Hueitt is fun! Poor baby is SOOO skinny. He needs a few extra biscuits. He was so funny on the radio as player of the game. He said he's put on 17 pounds since he's been in school!! JJ was very complimentary of him. Said he wasn't just shooting. Got rebounds No turnovers. I got the feeling that JJ was waiting to see him do that. JJ also complimented Vassor saying he always plays his butt off in practice and he was so happy to see him hit those three shots almost right in a row. Also said that the bench warmers shouldn't think of it being garbage time...they need to play as if the game was still up for grabs. Except for allowing some treys when the "kids" came in JJ was very pleased. He also said he will remind the starters that as team players they need to play they're hearts out so the "kids" can get more game time.

It was good to see Hueitt play so well and grab 9 rebounds to go with is 12 pts.

It was good to see you and the rest of the gang on Sat. I had a great time despite the outcomes. The bball game was exciting, though the dagger put a damper on everything. Those W&M guys can flat out shoot. Many of those treys were not easy shots. Sometimes I suppose one just has to tip one's cap.

On to Richmond, beat VCU!

GO MONARCHS!!!

True that. Green also has great vision. That feed to carver from the key was pretty buttery.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

I watched him play Bird in the State Championship. Dont know what everyone else saw but sorry he's better off not in a ODU uniform. Did not impress at all. Even Allen Iverson came out for the game and he couldnt get Cam going.

Glad to see these Hueitt stats. Like others, I'm hopeful this performance might get him in the game a little more. Both him and Green bring a missing ingredient to our squad. 6-12 minutes from each would be fine by me.

Hueitt Jr played great, he rebounds very well for a smaller guard. The guy is athletic, probably our best shooter. I'm in the camp of looking forward to seeing him in the rotation. At the end of close games, we will need FT shooters. He may be one of the players to have out there. Seriously I don't know if the starters can pull off a close game if teams start fouling us.

Noticed Green was something like 7-7 from line too. They both can be very helpful from that perspective DaBig.

I was impressed with Hueitt's athleticism. He skied for a few of those rebounds! Also, Xavier's vision on a few passes was impressive! I can see why there was some interest in him getting some minutes at PG. He's a very well-rounded player.

As for the starters, BJ has really impressed me this year. He's been LIGHTS OUT from three. Between BJ and Hueitt, teams will be hard pressed to pack it in on us at the end of the season (assuming Hueitt earns more PT).

That was a dominating performance. Took them a little time to get going but they did exactly what they were supposed to do. Now have to go get a big win at VCU. The guys need to believe that they can beat good teams on the road.

BJ has been shooting it well, which is exactly why I am going to lose it if he takes 16 foot jump shots. Right now, 56% of his shots are 2-point jumpers. 26% are threes. Those percentages need to flip.

Just wondering. Is it even possible to have BJ, Green and Hueitt in the game at the same time during the last several minutes of close games for their foul shooting ability ? Who gets left out?

Not sure who you leave out. We need Caver for ball handling experience and I would frankly rather have Haynes in the game shooting FTs than Green, who has been pretty bad from the line under pressure. I could see putting Hueitt in there and slide BJ to PF for Brandan if the opponent allows us the flexibility to go small.

Way too many 2 point jumpers.

I could see Hueitt and Haynes being rotated offense for defense at end of games. Put BJ at the 4. Caver/Green in game as well

I don't see JJ sitting Caver in a late game situation. I think his FT shooting will be fine. Take away Towson and WM games, he went 20-25 on that four game stretch. He's our 40 min man.

He wont. We need his ball handling.

It was nice to see him get a little rest and not have to pay 40 minutes last night though. A game like that here and there will pay dividends at the end of the season when we need him for extended minutes.

Haynes is one of ODU's better defenders. He wouldn't be in an "offense for defense" substitution discussion as he would already be in the game.

As someone noted earlier, Green has not shown the ability to hit important, end of game free throws yet. Might come at some point this season, but he hasn't yet.

Caver is still too off and on with his free throw shooting. Some games he is good, and the next one he is bad with his free throw shooting. Before he is to be called a good point guard he needs to become consistently in the good category as far as shooting free throws is concerned. Free throw shooting goes with the point guard position much like assists does. Have to knock them down if the ball is going to be in your hands at the end of the game while nursing a small lead.

Edit: Did I read it wrong and misinterpret what you meant? Are you saying that you would substitute Hueitt in for Haynes (instead of both of them coming in together for offense)? If so, isn't Haynes doing well from the line? I remember him making 2 for 2 against W&M when most everyone else was awful.

Man, only one guy on the whole team shooting foul shots great, BJ at 89%. Next highest is Haynes at 71%. Not good enough. Hopefully that will change. Need the point guard to shoot much higher, he's right there with our 6'10" center.
