I bet Clark, and his wife Jennifer are real happy with the destination. Who wouldn't be?

Word is players gave input on where they wanted to go and it was a large majority Bahamas. If I was in their position, I'd choose Bahamas, too.

I can only imagine how fun it would be to go to The Bahamas with my teammates.

No maybe fans hate fans...

One can make a selfish decision/choice and not hate others affected. No one ever said Clark or anyone hated the fans. Clark and players are very appreciative of fans. One can be great and you don’t have like every decision they make. Including Clark.

I'll agree, I'd pick the Bahamas over all the other bowls if I had the opportunity to go as a player, coach, ball boy, or equipment manager. It was just a thought. Nothing more than that. I love the fact we're bowling. Period.

They can hide behind the excuse of picking the best bowl experience for the player, which I completely understand. But, I would love to know if the Bahamas was Coach Clark's first choice, or was the decision made for him by Ingram and Watts?

I'd guessed that the Coach and AD looked at the number of reserved bowl tickets by the UAB fans versus the school allotment and didn't want to embarrass us and the school with a small showing.

What school in CUSA will do any better than us (attendance wise) at any bowl? Answer is probably none. If we were in New Orleans we would have more fans at that game than any school in CUSA outside of Southern Miss, and they played there last year.

Could be but that's a small sample size. I think if we had selected the New Orleans Bowl a lot more people would've come forward to attend. Not as many people are going to take the time to fill out the reservation form vs just waiting to see if we end up in New Orleans.

I had several non-UAB friends that wanted to go with our group to the New Orleans Bowl just because of the destination and easy trip.

RE: Ray Watts
Our bowl options were:

1. Possibly play Troy in New Orleans - I think this was a good option, and I think we would have been happy with it, BUT we are whipping Troy in recruiting, so playing this game wouldn't help us much, and could potentially be bad to lose. We may not have had a choice here - FAU and/or UNT might have bumped us from this bowl.

2. Play an AAC team in Florida - While we want to be in the AAC with our old mates, we are recruiting with many of them, and some of them are VERY good. It would be tough to beat Memphis, Navy, or Houston right now. Still, this was a solid option.

3. Play Ohio in the Bahamas - Putting a fairy tale bowl victory on this season would be big, and there is no guarantee we could beat Ohio, but the game looks winnable. Even if we lose, though, it isn't much of a black eye for us. We aren't recruiting against them, so it doesn't affect us much either way.

If you are the coach, which option sounds best?

That is a great post, and I agree on all points. I'm glad to hear we are winning the recruiting with Troy!

I agree 100%.
Additionally, I really hope the pre-order numbers weren't taken as a measure of interest by fans. Many of the bowls listed on the form had multiple ticket price options without any description. I completed one with all the games I'd be willing/able to go to, but then elected to not submit it. Forgive me, but the competency shown in the past by the ticket office may have influenced my decision.
The fact that I had to call them earlier this year to renew the basketball seats that I've had for 10 years, because I didn't receive a renewal notice, only to find out they had moved the band to my seats and "forgot" to tell me, may have been the most recent example. Though, it isn't the only one.

I'll say it now, and y'all can throw stuff at me if you wish. I really didn't want to play in the B'ham Bowl because Memphis has a really good team this year, and losing to them here would have been a truly sucky way for this glorious season to end.

All the rest of the reasons not to want it still applied, of course.

Ding! It would not have been good. To beat Memphis, you flat out have to be able to put up a lot of points, which I don't think we are capable of (yet) against a good defense.

Our OC is from Texas, but he does not appear to be on UTEP's or Rice' short list!

Short list for...?

Seriously, do you all think he just doesn’t have confidence in our passing game? Or he has been told to run, run, run... shorten the game? I mean i can’t think of any other reason to be so predictable.

I played a game with my two sons Saturday. I gave them $5 each for every play call they could guess in a row. One topped out at 7 in a row, the other 6, with many 4-5 streaks built in between. They are 10 & 14.
