I've gotta admit it would have been much more fun in 2004 and '05. Those seasons were way more magical. 2004 was particularly disappointing, as it should have been capped with a World Series appearance at the very least.

As someone who also experienced those seasons (and their disappointing ends), the only thing I can say in response to this is, whats the point in making this post? It offers nothing to this board other than you getting people to see you cry about the Astros not winning a world series before this year. Why don't you try enjoying being an Astros fan instead crying about past missed opportunities.

i get his point. i don't remember the teams he's referring to, i assume it's bagwell and biggio peak? i think he's talking about a budding dynasty that would have rendered what we have today as more of the same. just looked at that lineup. damn. good oswalt and roger. i hate how advanced baseball reference makes the pitcher's stats. ra9? runs against nine innings?

I'm just saying it would have been more fun back then, not that I didn't enjoy it this year.

The 2004 team was a lot of fun with a lot of fun players and key parts. They had an amazing run at the end of the regular season like the '51 Giants and looked primed to go to the World Series with two chances to get there after the Kent walkout in Game 5 of the LCS.

I'm glad this team pulled through but it wasn't nearly as magical as that.

The Killer B's were a great group, sometimes a team is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Cardinals had some phenomenal teams those two seasons as well, but no one was beating the Red Sox in 2004. The White Sox weren't as hot as them in 2005, but they matched up really well with the Astros if I recall.

Luckily for us Cardinal fans we had 2006 as karma for two great teams even though we really didn't deserve to win that year. Astros finally got theirs a month ago, although that team was fantastic in their own right.
