T3 Marvel movie right now. The humor, the action, the story, the end game... ALL EPIC. Winter Soldier, first Avengers, and this are my top 3 right now. Honorable Mention: Iron Man, Ant Man, Spiderman Homecoming, Civil War.

Saw Thor - Ragnarok this weekend as well.

I really liked it. It had all the makings of the type of movie that everyone will love. Hard to rank the MCU movies because there are so many that are really good, but here it goes.

1) Avengers
2) Winter Soldier
3) Civil War
4) Iron Man
5) Ragnarok

HM: GoG I & II, Spiderman Homecoming, Ant Man

GoGII was much better to me than the first one. Dr. Strange was also solid.

While I don't think they have done a trash movie yet I'd put the first Captain America, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Thor, Thor Dark World towards the bottom.

John Wick Chapter 2-BR. My opinion picks up right were the original stops in both the story, writing, and action. I would love to get background on him and this whole underworld, and what the coins mean.

+1 on Thor: Ragnorok. Easily the best Thor movie and I would rate it as a top 5 in the Marvel series.

Spoiler Alert:

I liked the chemistry between Thor and Valkyrie better than Thor and Jane.

You're right on about Thor & Valkyrie, much better that Thor & Jane. That seemed to be way to scripted.

Marvel has yet to make a bad movie IMO. A few were just OK like Dark World, IM3, and the Hulk movies, but none are what I'd call bad.

Can't wait for Infinity War to come out.

I saw Thor 3 in the theater as well. This was those rare times I felt a movie moved too fast, but everything they had in the plot was on point and not wasted. I don't know where I'd rank it as my top three are:

Iron Man
Winter Soldier
Avengers 1

It probably makes the top 5 cut. As many have said, dropping the LOTR in space them was a good move. It was nice to see some of the Planet Hulk storyline onscreen as this is the closet we are ever going to get it IMO.

What is the general plot to John Wick? I've heard it would be something I'd like based on its raw, gritty action. Maybe if there is a killer black Friday price I'd get them.

Are you the god of hammers? -Odin.

I thought the humor was forced in places. Good story. The last 20 minutes or so (when they return to Asgard) was awesome!

A hitman who wanted out of the life but got drawn back in. Basically and upgraded Jason Statham movie.

Justice League / theater
Better than DoJ in that they don't spend much time doing set ups, flashbacks, or other non-essential filler material and basically get right to it. Personally I thought Steppenwolf was a better villain in terms of evilness versus Lex Luthor from DoJ. I liked the exposition on the Mother Boxes and the prior war with Steppenwolf. Not sure how I felt about the recruitment of Aquaman but as his own character I liked Mamoa's take on him. I had some issues with The Flash in that he was a little too young IMO and if wasn't working for the PD yet, or even Star Labs for that matter how did he have his Flash suit? I highly recommend watching the post ending and the post credits scenes-- some cool stuff. I think they did nail some good humor in the movie as well. The one thing I wonder about is who from the Justice League appears next? Green Lantern? Green Arrow? Do they play the female card with Supergirl( personally, with already having Superman I don't see the need for her appearance yet)?

Murder on the Orient Express / theater
I liked it. When the end game was revealed I was kind of surprised but then I thought back to some of the events and conversations throughout the movie and I arguably could have seen it coming had I thought that would have been a choice for the end game. I have never seen the original movie but now I kind of want to, to have that comparison.

Saw Justice League this weekend as well. I was underwhelmed to say the least. The movie is 2 hours long. I thought the last 20 minutes or so were pretty good, but the first hour & 40 were, frankly, boring.

Batman was meh, Flash was irritating and kind of childish, Aquaman was a carbon copy of Ronon Dex (Momoa's character from Stargate Altantis), Cyborg was meh. The only decent character was Wonder Woman.

Other that the Dark Knight movies, Marvel just kicks DC's ass in the blockbuster category. Their best effort was WW, which honestly is a middle of the road MCU movie.

I expected more.

Not sure I'd go so far as to say they were boring... they did need that Mother Box set up IMO.

Batman was meh, Flash was irritating and kind of childish, Aquaman was a carbon copy of Ronon Dex (Momoa's character from Stargate Altantis), Cyborg was meh. The only decent character was Wonder Woman.

Batman meh? I think Afleck has done a good job with the character. And, in any prior incarnation of a Batman vs. Superman they have always been kind of ballbusters to each other.

I agree on The Flash. I get he was the comedic relief plant of the film but his whole deal felt off based on what I know about his origins.

How else can you make Aquaman cool? I didn't really like his set up per se' but I felt they had to make him a bad ass to even remotely look like he belonged with the group.

Cybrog, I can't really comment on as I am not up on his complete deal. I did feel he was a little self loathing for my tastes.

Wonder Woman was pretty legit again.

I don't mind Marvel and DC taking different methods to their end game for a cinematic universe concept. DC doesn't have to be the PG13 action comedy routing like Marvel has become. That said, Batman does seem to be their only hero they can consistently get right. They haven't done a good Superman movie since Superman II. MoS was not too bad...and I really did like a lot of what it wanted to get into, but the movie was too flat for me and had way to many flashback scenes to make it run smooth. DC doesn't need to do Marvel clones to be successful but they do need to make strong movies with their characters.

I expected more.

Just my thoughts.

I guess some of my opinions go back to how much I liked the Christian Bale Batman and how much I like the CW's Flash.

Affleck had a hard act to follow. To his credit, at least he wasn't George Clooney bad.

I never quite understood why DC flat out refuses to either combine or at least include their TV universe in the movies. I think most of their TV characters are pretty darn good and using completely different people to play the same characters seems like taking a chance to fail.

I was hoping JL would have been a worthy answer to The Avengers.

Clooney wasn't a bad Batman, the movie was BAD.... probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I did like Bale's portrayal of Batman but I think Afleck is doing a good service to the older, more hardened Batman.

RE: The movie thread
Finally got around to watching Stranger Things on Netflix.

Episode 1 was kind of weak to me but I stuck with it to watch Episode 2 and that got me interested to see how this was going to turn out. Pretty cool 80's set horror movie.

Captain America Winter Soldier / BR
Such a great dark Marvel movie. It is my top movie of The Avengers family.

The Punisher / NF
Personally, I think it is the best Marvel NF series since DD S1 and JJ S1. I'm kind of glad they kept out the other character crossovers for this one--they really wouldn't have fit into the narrative IMO. Granted DD might have taken on his case against plays from Homeland or other agencies. I really liked how far up the conspiracy went up the food chain and I liked the cover-up angles. The only thing I truly had beef with is much physical punishment he could take and still perform his "job." I can get an adrenaline kick in but... I'm not sure about the PTSD/Following Orders thing they tried to play out with vet that goes off on his own and into some terrorist activities.

RE: The movie thread
Silent Movie / BR
First time I have ever seen this even if I had known Mel Brooks made it. I really liked it. A great way to modernize the concept IMO. And the whole setup of the movie was great to!

History of the World Pt. 1/ BR
I had seen this one once before but it was the first one I ended up watching out of my brother's Mel Brooks collection he bought Black Friday. Some genuinely funny moments and some great quotables.

The Man with the Iron Fists 2 / BR
Decent sequel. It had the kung fu angle handled very well but it missed the craziness that really attracted me to the first one.

Batman vs. Superman DoJ / BR
It was a tune up for Justice League. I still maintain that the directors cut of the film helps a lot with the overall flow of the movie.

Justice League / theater
Better than DoJ for sure. My only real beef was The Flash.

Stranger Things S1 and almost the full S2 / NF
Started it on a whim and I got hooked. I like the 80s setting and I like the general setup of the show. Has that Alien/Stephen King movie/ horror movie / X Files vibe to it.

Captain America Civil War / BR
One of the stronger Marvel entries for sure.

Spaceballs / BR
One of the all time great comedies.

Hard Boiled / dvd
One of my favorite John Woo movies. Chow Yun Fat just has it in this one.

The Killer / dvd
Who would have thought that a movie with this much gun violence could have just as much soul with Chow Yun Fat's character trying to take his earnings to pay for that female singers' eye surgery.

The Punisher S1 / NF
I really, really liked it. Probably one of theri best seasons of Marvel content.

The Punisher / NF
Went back to this one before starting the tv series. I like a lot of what they wanted to do but I think his ties to his apartment buddies kind of hurt the movie in some ways as they felt kind of thrown in to make him out to be more emotional than I think he was supposed to be after turning into The Punisher.

RE: The movie thread
Stranger Things S2/ NF
--I liked the show once I got into it. That ending though... all three endings....

Home Alone / dvd
--I actually liked the first two, but 1 was the better of the two.

Edward Scissorhands / dvd
--Still like it.

Transformers: The Last Knight / BR
--Special features were cool. The movie though.... only movie in the series that was worse was 2. That said, it could have been better considering the set up. As I am watching it now, they did that stupid floating aspect ratio like Nolan did with The Dark Knight Rises. I hate that aspect ratio change BS.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 / BR
--I liked this one way more than the first one. The plot, the action, the music, everything seemed to be performed a lot better.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 / BR
--This movie has grown on me now that I finally own a copy.
