Cayman Islands Classic
Here are the current Pomeroy rankings.

Cincy - 11
Iowa - 52
Wyoming - 78
Louisiana Lafayette - 110
Buffalo - 151
SD State - 120
Richmond - 189
UAB - 119

UAB opens with Richmond next Monday. A win would likely result in a game against Cincy.

That would be a great re-uniting of Games of the past, No Huggins though. He went West. Virginia. Just looks like Cronin, oh well. Think we might be ready for the Bearcats once again.

Not looking forward to facing this Cincinnati team... they are a legit Final 4 team this year. (my track record for being pessimistic in my picks this year has been phenomenal)

Well, we beat them when they were number 1. You be pessimistic and I'll be optimistic.

They were #3 when we beat them in 1996. Their #1 team beat us in 2000. The closest we have come to beating a #1 team was Memphis in 2008.

You be optimistic. I'll be factual.

I look forward to probably playing Cincy and the next game whoever it might be.

Even though Richmond will probably stink, the following 2 games should be good tests.

We really, really need to payback Memphis & AU.

We will need Nick & William to start playing like they are capable.

Thank you Sir, Was pretty sure they were number 1 but hey beating the number 3 team to be corrected is a pretty good accomplishment. I'll try to be optimistic. Will never be pessimistic, But Factual is Great.

If I recall correctly, UAB beat Cincinnati by one point in 1996 at Bartow Arena. UAB hit 16 out of 17 free throws. Anthony Thomas and Jeremy Bearden and Carlos Browning and Cedric Dickson and the bunch were on that team? Am I remembering correctly, Memphis Blazer? And Archie Johnson was an assistant coach, as was Murry Bartow? And wasn't that Anthony Thomas's final game at UAB before being suspended, resigned from the team? Wasn't it Coach Bartow's final season as head coach at UAB?

Millsap went off against Cincy when they had Lance Stephenson

I wouldn't know wasn't round then. I know Davis scheduled them and won the Daytona disaster year. They couldn't stop Walter Sharpe. That's the last time I remember playing them, AK might have been their coach.

Carlos Williams. Carlos Browning flunked out before the previous season.

I think that was the game where Cincy missed like 80 straight free throws to close it out.

The previous year we Bristowed them:

the last time we played and beat cincy was the 2009-2010 season (I believe that is correct). We started out 18-2 with Eli Millsap and beat Cincy at home the one season they had Lance Stephenson (who was ejected in the first half after two techs). After the 18-2 start and short-lived top 25 ranking, we had an epic Davis-esque collapse and didn't even make the tourney.

Lots of questions

Let's break it down
1. We beat them by two 70-68. In 1996. In Bartow ArenA.
2. UAB was 25 of 33 from the line, hitting 21 of their last 22, in clouding 16 in a row.
3. Anthony Thomas, Jeremy Bearden, and Cedric Dixon was on the team. Carlos Browning was not.
4.Murry Bartow was an assistant. The other assistants was Joe Evans. Archie Johnson is listed in the media guide as Basketball Support Staff.
5. It was Anthony Thomas's last game. He missed the next game at Memphis after being arrested for a harassment charge against a former Lady Blazer. Bartow decided to leave Thomas home, but told some he may have overreacted. Thomas quit the team before Bartow could make a final decision. Thomas was the second leading scorer.
6. It was Gene's final season.

Kennedy was coach 2005-2006. We beat them 59-57 in Cincinnati that year. Beat them in Bartow the next year as well by 19. Davis was 3-1 vs. Cincinnati, but none of those Bearcat teams were very good. Their best team was during Davis's first year and the year Kennedy was the coach. They went 21-13.

Stephenson played for them in 2009-10. That was the year we beat them 64-47 at Bartow. Stephenson had 8 points. Millsap s had 22. Bearcats finished 18-14

I think the only reason we played them four times during the Davis years was it was some kind of penance they had to do to get out of CUSA
