I have to think that the AJ Erdely injury (or injury scare) severely limited what we were comfortable with in the 2nd half. I was certain it was a broken collarbone when he hit the ground on that tackle by their stud D-lineman.

I would have settled for a repeat of some of our running plays from the first half. Loved that one where we pulled a couple of linemen and had an escort outside for the runner going on the short side; never seemed to gain less than 9-10 yds at a pop.

Yep, looks like Clements late in the 2014 season.

Looked like Shaq was playing with one arm. He's someone else I'd worry about. Brown fell on his knee wrong in the third. He'll probably be sore next week.

I doubt we were saving plays for Florida. We had bad, conservative play calling in second 2nd half again. it's nothing new. Happened vs LT, MTSU, Charlotte, UTSA...
Costed us only one game so far, thanks to the defense leaving it all out on the field.

Agree maybe coach takes over the play calling from koenning or maybe he already has and its his calls.I dont understand the killing of momentum.

Every team adjusts at half time to try to take away what the opponent did in the first half. Those adjustments are guessed at by our offensive staff and sometimes the guesses are wrong. And it might also be that in our first year back to actual play, the playbook is relatively slim, especially when they have only one experienced QB to rely upon. Keeping it simple may mean staying very "vanilla" in play calling. Our success so far is proof that the coaches know what the team can and can't do on the field.

We had some key people get banged up yesterday. Erdely, Brown, Shaq, Keely, and Broderick Thomas. We'll need these guys healthy to have any chance next week.
