Because outside those three, the AAC fits right in.
p.s. Congrat's to those schools for having big years.
But the American HAS those teams. None of the G4 do. Our conference is made up of 12 teams, not 3 teams + 9 more.
Just go back and look who was on top in the American last year. I'll give you a hint. it wasn't the same 3 teams. Well, except for South Florida. You know, the one who isn't even in the CFP poll right now? So, you can't just look at this snapshot in time and say we are three outliars in the conference. Almost ALL of our teams are good from year to year (when we are not breaking in a new coach).
You do not have 12 great teams. Calm down

This really puts on display the fundamental, foundational lie that the G4 fans keep telling themselves: "The AAC may be good, but they're really not any better than we are."
No really we are - especially when you are talking on-field performance - head and shoulders above the G4s year after year after year. And closer to the five contract-bowl-conferences than to the G4s.
We've already laid out the top of the table - 3 AAC teams ranked in AP / Coaches to 0 G4s
2 AAC teams in the CFP rankings (3rd possible tonight) to 0 G4s.
But panama wants to look beyond the top 3. How about the top half of the AAC? Looking at the Composite Rankings compiled by Massey - the top 6 AAC teams come in at #44 or above. As someone noted, that includes prior year division champs who ended seasons ranked or were ranked in final CFP ranking even after losing ccg. So anyway, how does the top half of the AAC stack up? In the top 44 to include that American top half you will find:
7 SEC - half
8 ACC - half plus one team at #43
7 Big10 - half
6 Big12 - half plus one team at #38
6 AAC - half
6 PAC12 - half
1 Indy, ND
2 mwc
1 MAC
Well maybe look at the top of the G4s...panama's Georgia State is tied for second in the Sun Belt....would be 10th in the AAC, two spots behind our 9th ranked AAC team. G4 top third = AAC bottom third.
Maybe look at the worst of each? AAC's lowest ranked team is ahead of:
5 Sun Belt, 4 CUSA, 3 MAC, 2 Indy, 2 mwc...and a Pac12 and a Big12.
Top to bottom head and shoulders better, and closer to the five ahead of us than the four behind us.
And its year after year after year. Conference average rankings show that at #6 we are closer to # 5 than to 8,9,10 (and #7 is barely keeping us in sight at 90% of that "closer" in '16 and '17). Heck right now we are closer to #1 than to #9,10 (and #8 is barely within that "closer")

We're also demonstrably closer to the other P6 conferences than we are to you in average viewership per rated game. That's true for all games (which gets you things like Army-Navy), or for all AAC-controlled games (which gets you things like Oklahoma-Houston), or for all AAC-AAC games. And that too is true year after year.
