RE: Opinions Vary on Potential UAB vs. Memphis Rivalry Bowl Game in Birmingham
Suggesting UAB makes a Bowl and the Schedule has them making a bowl game with no more wins with what they have. What would be the reward. Poll the Players, Coaches and Fans. Where would they like to go and where would the fans travel too. If you want to get a hotel and show the city, theirs plenty to do. I would think the players would like to play in another place and would think the coaches and their wives would like to get a reward for the non show of their work, I would think that their are many fans that would like to take a trip of the reward to somewhere else, I, Think we would get more fans in Birmingham then anywhere else. so where is the answer.

Leaning towards that being the case as well

I wouldn't make or take any projection serious at this point. I would only think it's fun because we hadn't really had the chance to do it. I'll be happy with any bowl game that wants us. More concerned with injuries at the moment.
That said I'm back looking at recruiting, think I see some possible blueshirts on the horizon potentially.

Bowl projections are some of the easiest to predict so I don't totally agree.

If Memphis plays like they did against UConn, I would say your right. Do they have a new stadium yet.

Blueshirting is a way for programs to get around the 25 yearly scholarship limit. Basically you can put an incoming freshman on scholarship when they officially enroll for the fall but count them against next years recruiting class as long as he wasn't technically a recruit, meaning he didnt take an official visit and was not offered a letter of intent from your school, and didnt sign one with anyone else. I believe the player has to redshirt his freshman year as well.
So, It counts against next years totals, well that's good, if you can't get a player for next year right.

Well, typically it's used if:
A) you have more than 25 guys that you want to sign this year or, you are able to sign less than 25 because you dont have that many seniors and have less than 25 scholarships to give out, and have more interested recruits than you have spots.
B) You are planning to sign several guys that are borderline to qualify, and you want to have a contingency plan in case more than you think make it, or more than you think dont. Having some signees that are blueshirts help in either contingency, because you can always take the blueshirt off and have them count for this year if you have a spot available.

On one hand, it would be great for the fans to have the bowl game so close. On the other hand, I feel like the players and coaches and staff should be rewarded with a nice trip to a bowl game elsewhere. As much as I'd love to have the bowl game right here, I would prefer it to be a different one for the Blazers.

Speaking of recruiting, it would be nice if this class could be heavy HS and little JUCO. But looking ahead to the 2019 class, we may need a bunch of JUCO's again since there are so many seniors on the 2018 team.

From the Memphis interview... "Tne projection has Memphis and UAB meeting in Birmingham, which would be the 11th game of a series that hasn’t been played since 2012. UAB leads the series 10-5."
Am I reading this wrong? Wouldn't this be the 16th game of the series, if we lead 10-5?

I don't see how anyone can look at this year's team and not trust the coaching staff to understand the team's needs and how to fill them. Clark did a brilliant job of avoiding what happened to SMU on coming back from the dead. He's got a plan.
As to the Birmingham Bowl. in general I'd prefer us to get out of town, go somewhere nice, and reward the players with a true bowl trip. I'd prefer that it not be in the Bahamas or New Mexico, because that means that probably 80% or better of the fans who might have traveled won't be going.
That said, this year of all years, I'd be alright with playing a bowl at Legion and outright packing the place with UAB fans. It's a special year and that would be memorable. It also might have an effect on a bowl selection committee next year.
I still prefer New Orleans or hell, even Shreveport. Cajun food, Zydeco music, casino close by, and easily driveable. Party time!

Shreveport would be great not only because of the short distance but the bowl date & possible opponents.

Lol. Maybe he is subconsciously giving us the win, meaning it would be our 11th WIN in the series.

How about they BOTH win out and meet in the Peach ( or some other ) Bowl? Are there any such "other" possibilities?
