Agreed. And we can also expect unforeseen wins/loses that may shuffle the final 4.

Unfortunately, I am not sure about that.
Georgia would have a win over ND.
ND over Miami
Alabama over Georgia

Miami - over Clemson/VT and ACC champ
OK- over Ok State, TCU, and OSU: Big 12 champ
Wisconsin? - over Big 10 East winner and Big 10 champ
Washington - PAC 12 champ (not sure what their "best win" might be, not an affront on them, just not as familiar with their work)

At that point I'd say Georgia, ND, Alabama get in and probably OK.

If I were the committee I'd do Georgia-OK and Alabama-ND to avoid rematches, but more likely Georgia-ND and Alabama-OK or Alabama-Georgia round 2 and OK-ND.

RE: ND Miami
if Wisconsin loses once and either UGa/Bama lose 2x, Miami can get in as a one loss ACC champ. That's the only scenario. OU would need one or the other because Clemson has the edge.

I think Miami would need both a Wisconsin loss and a Oklahoma and quite possibly TCU loss as well.

not sure Miami gets in with-
Alabama/Georgia 13-0
Alabama/Georgia 12-1
Notre Dame 11-1
Oklahoma 12-1

I just don't see Miami cracking that top 4 at all. And I'd say especially if Ohio St is sitting there at 11-2 and Big Ten champions.

So if Miami is 6 now (Amway Coaches Poll) and beats ND at 3 now. Where does Miami rise? Do one loss teams TCU and OKLA and Washington rate higher than Miami? And if Miami wins out, how could Miami be anything other than a 2 or 3? The ND and Clemson games seem to be the predominate indicators. And if Miami stumbles against VA or Pitt, then they are on the bubble at best.

With a win, Miami should honestly move up to number 2 (ahead of Alabama)

We're saying if Miami loses to ND but then wins out.

It really looks for Miami it's all or nothing.

Oh and for the ACC this game really could be a HUGE money game.
Miami wins- and ND quite possibly goes to the Orange bowl- ACC gets instead of 27.5 million 40 million(or is it 41 million)
ND wins- ND probably goes to playoffs- ACC stuck with only 27.5 million dollars

Miami and Wisconsin should both be in the play off if they are undefeated after the Championship Games. If Miami is undefeated then they beat a ranked Notre Dame team and Clemson. If Wisconsin is undefeated and one of Alabama or Georgia losses the SEC Championship Game then both should be in the play off or the system is rigged. Of course we know that is true already with the current rankings. The play off committee is already pushing the teams that would get higher rankings on TV and that would sell the most tickets at the play off bowls. 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 03-shhhh 03-phew 03-nutkick 03-hissyfit 05-mafia 07-coffee3 04-cheers

They won't if Alabama continues to win and stay undefeated. I would hope they would replace ND in the #3 spot though. If that were the case my 1-4 would be:

1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. Miami
4. Wisconsin

If Miami stumbles to either Pitt of UVA, then will likely tumble out of the top 4 even with wins against ND and Clemson. The U has had to many years of mediocrity to get the sentiment vote. Now if they do make the top 4, they'll change some minds. Or should I say the dollar signs will be big as Miami can return to one of those marquee teams which means more eyeballs and rating which equals selection consideration. Miami is close to being there, but needs a strong finish. Losing 1 will be acceptable. Losing 2 will bring the naysayers saying the U was overrated. Either way, the U is back from a 15 year hiatus and at least in the conversation.

IMO, Miami must win out - including Notre Dame - to make the playoffs this year. I just don't see a game they can afford to lose.

RE: ND Miami
Miami can drop Pitt or UVa, and they will get in over ND and Clemson with wins obviously. Then they need Wisconsin to lose OR the Big 12 champ to drop two games.

Miami would get in over a 12-1 TCU IMO in that scenario.

If Miami has beaten ND and Clemson....

got
Alabama
Georgia
Oklahoma/TCU
Wisconsin

to worry about Really they would just need 1 of the Oklahoma/TCU winner and Wisconsin to lose to get in I think.

I think Miami would get in over Wisconsin unless Miami has 1 loss and Wisconsin is undefeated. Wisconsin has a terrible schedule

Sorry but I'm glad as anything the committee is telling teams that it's better to play a tougher schedule with a loss than playing a cupcake soft schedule undefeated. Sorry but there is nothing about Wisconsin or Miami(up to last week) that they got screwed. Wisconsin hadn't played a single team all year long in the top 25. Miami same thing.

You can act like this is how it used to be where the -0 meant everything. Sorry but it doesn't.

Pretenders vs the Overrated.

Mark Richt’s evil goatee aside, I think he has worked very hard to distance this Miami team from ‘Da U’ of old

Richt is first class. If Miami can defeat Notre Dame, Miami has a shot at a national championship. Wouldn't it be interesting if Miami played Georgia for the championship?
