Google Construction Rice Stadium 1950. On page 2 find Rice University: An Architectural Tour
I watched them build the stadium and that's always what they said about the capacity. Of course that hasn't mattered for years.
If i recall, the two upper decks have 15k each with the lower at 40. With both endzones out and the concrete non-seats in the lower, i can see how there might be only 17k in the lower bowl, which i think has less rows than the upper. And the wings of the upper go all the way to the tarped endzones. So with all that any estimates of actual attendance?

Bob's figures are the same ones I had always heard quoted. The difference in HRS vs the Cotton Bowl was that the Cotton Bowl upper decks held 12500 each and the lower bowl 45,000. Both stadiums were listed as 70,000. The bleachers on the concourse at each end of the stadium (before the Owl Club was built) held 1000 each to get to the max 72,000.

I agree. And actually the young talent on this year's team isn't bad at all. Glaesman showed some skills yesterday (and some bad issues too including the pick 6 at the end of the game).
I really liked Cam Montgomery's speed yesterday. We need to throw him a pass in the slot and see what he can do there.

Running the ball maybe, but he only attempted 15 passes and only one of those was sharp (the TD pass over the middle to Cephus).
He hasn't shown a strong arm as evidenced by the fact that Tyner was in to throw in Hail Mary at the end.

I rarely leave a game encouraged after a loss, but I was yesterday. What a game. There were about 250 of us there behind the team cheering in the end. I'm proud of the offense. They looked synced. No holding penalties that I can remember. The player Montgomery is fast. The fourth down play was amazing! It was anyone's game. We lose in the end, but there's hope. This one hurt though.

What game were you watching? You do realize they scored only 14 points against defense ranked outside the Top 100, and both scores were the result of 3 long passes (two of which were not thrown particularly well).

28 points.
But yes, LaTech has a terrible defense.

A couple of shots from the second quarter, honoring the '97 CWS Owls.

I think it's Joseph Cathey with Coach Graham in the one photo? In the bottom photo, is that Berkman on the 2nd from the left? I think the 3rd from the right might be Matt Lorenz. I'm not sure about the others but some of them look familiar, I just can't place the names.

Thank you.
I understand stretching the truth a little bit, but calling this 19,900 is a straight up fabrication.
The lower bowl seats 17k with the tarps on. This is like 5000, at best.

Again, it's paid attendance and that includes all the season ticketholder (such as I) who didn't show up.

I get that, but I doubt we have 14000 season ticket holders and paid ticket holders who didn't show up.
