Haha. Yea those stadiums are empty because of the anthem. Not because those teams combine for 4 wins. Idiots

Sadly the owners won't take much of a hit this year since a lot of those seats are held by season ticket holders, if this doesn't stop they'll really feel it in the pocketbook next year.

Miami always has bad attendance. The Browns game filled up during the game.

What about Pittsburgh, KC, GB, and other winning teams?

America needed to break its sports obsession anyway. I say obsession because for many people it's not just something they enjoy - it becomes way, way more. This is actually a good thing.

As much as I dislike the anthem protest and do enjoy the NFL's bottom line being hurt by them, the author cherry picked the stadiums that have historically poor attendance and ran with it. Not to say there wasn't SOME empty seats due to the protest, but try looking at teams that have better fan showing and see if the metrics hold up.

If we want to talk about attendance problems, why don't we look at how 80% of FBS is now playing in front of 1/4 to 1/2 full stadiums on a weekly basis? These CFB games used to be packed.

Tulane, UCLA, Cal, Utah, USF... ...for the most part, it doesn't matter.

Plenty of empty seats in Houston last week, where we always sell out and have a pretty good team and a star young QB.

The fact that you chose to insult people when you yourself don't know WTF you're talking about is rich.

The Bears usually have more fans than that.

It will if people decide to forego beer and food at any game where the players kneel

I likely doesn't hurt the bottom line much at this point, but I'm betting there are quite a few nervous NFL people right about now.

If not full stadiums is coupled with a good drop in TV sets tuned in, one would assume that revenues will decline at some point..........and none of them wants a decline in revenues - eventually, everyone will make less money.

It's more than just backlash but there is no question the NFL interest level is down. Scoring is down (4 shutouts this week alone), lots of key injuries again to the top NFL stars, and lots of mediocre (and bad) NFL teams. NFL ratings continue to slide but meanwhile MLB ratings are up and an LA-Houston World Series should help those ratings too (would have been better with LA/NYY but it still won't be bad).

I do call fake news on empty seats at Houston Texans games - there may have been a few empty seats right away but the Texans fans are excited over DeShaun Watson and we play in a crappy division so the fans wlll be there as long as we have a chance to make the playoffs.

This......

This is the important things......

Not Puerto Rico and outbreaks of disease......

Not Niger.....

Not Russia influencing our elections and counter measures we should be implementing.....

No the NFL kneeling controversy........... that’s what is the pressing need of the day.....
