RE: I think "we" are good again
We are good; but this game did little to enhance my view of the team. BGSU had two legit players and one of them was the punter. A Wisconsin Whitewater might very well beat this team. What today illustrated was our offensive scheme needs a run first QB. Childers run threat opens this offense up; he was sharper passing the ball and had a couple welll thrown balls dropped; he also was fortunate that at least two of his deep passes were not picked. Beebe made an amazing catch on the TD; not a well thrown ball. These three games could not have been better for Childers to gain confidence. Our D is ridiculous.

Any more information on this deal? I usually call for deals, but the ticket office is not open in the next 24 hours.

Pretty happy with the offense. I saw some of the EMU game.
EMU QB has a big brace on his right leg. Don't picture him being very mobile.
One more then the showdown.

We gave up twice as many rushing yards today as our per game average. We look susceptible to running QBs.

Are teams picking on Embry or throwing away from Lurry?

EMUs QB (Roback) is not a runner at all; here is his stats

http://www.espn.com/college-football/pla...gan-roback

He has 9 TDs and 7 picks this year; our DBs should be licking their chops!

I think they are picking on Embry. They did throw at Lurry a little bit.
What was with Lurry and his unsportsmanlike conduct penalty?
EMU play calling in overtime was brutal.
We should win that game by a few scores.

Tuck Foledo. We worry ourselves sick every year and we always find a way. Even last year we gave them a run for their money. They haven't won the MACC since 2004, which is the last time they've won the MAC west.

The HArd Way, and we do it again this year,

EMU is the real deal this year, can't o verlook them. They should have beat the Rowers. ( can we still call them that?)Thank God we're playing in DeKalb. I can't take that gray field of theirs.

They are "learning how to win." I wouldn't call them the "real deal." They are still 0-3 in conference play. All close games this year, but that just shows they can't close. Need to jump out ahead on them and let the defense do their thing the rest of the way.

Agreed, but they aren't the guaranteed win they used to be. They should have beaten the rowers today. Brogan is a good QB, put 500 yards on WMU.

Brogan had 308 yards passing against WMU.

The announcers were very complimentary of NIU and Carey. They said something that were 23-1 aginst the MAC east in conference play, and that Rod is 26-6in MAC conference play, not to mention 4-1 against the Big Ten. I' looking it up to confirm, but that's an impressive stat.

RE: I think "we" are good again
Having Beebe back is a huge. We had him for BC and half the EIU game. He is a difference maker. His route running is stellar; and his hands are incredible. He could have made a huge impact against Nebraska and SDSU. We need to somehow get Blake back involved in the offense. With him, Beebe, Tears and Wineman all making plays we could be dangerous.
Again today you saw our "go to" play from the 20 -30 yard line work to perfection; Winemann is wide open every time. Against Toledo, WMU and CMU we will need to hit at least one of those deep passes.
We should feel great with the effort today, but there is no doubt this was the worst team we played all year. Let's be real cautious about thinking we are all that by pounding this team.

yeah but i'm superstitious like that. I don't allow myself to get overly confident against Toledo, esp since they are looking really (legitimately) good this year, not just overhyped like they have been in the past. Logan Woodside worries me.

Lost to Ohio at home to break our home winning streak.
That one hurt.
I think that was the missed Huff block that got Graham killed.

yup

That didn't end the home winning streak though. They lost to CMU the year prior in DeKalb.

They're 5-2 now and their only losses were 1 play games against one of the best teams in the group of 5 and what looks like a pretty decent Boston College team.

I'm not sure what else you need to see.

Those qualify as good losses. But what are the good wins? Nebraska may go 6-6. Maybe. But I'm guessing 5-7. That's a decent win, but is a sub .500 big 10 team win what we count as good? EIU, kent, buff and BG don't really put a feather in your cap. I think this team is good. But I'll need to see Childers win a game when they need him before I start thinking MACC.

They were literally the first MAC school to ever win at Nebraska.

If that’s not a good win, let’s all stop talking about Alabama in 2003.

Its a good win for a MAC program for sure. To say it proves a ton about NIU (besides their good defense) is a stretch. Toledo and probably even Ohio both have enough to beat the huskers... It would be in a different type of game... Maybe a 48-41 type game but hypothetical wins nonetheless.

And this does not mean Toledo or OU have wins to prove squat either... Just saying. Losing to BC really hurts an otherwise solid resume. Sdsu is struggling now as well.

Nebraska is 3-1 against the MAC all time.

Alabama is 3-1 against the MAC all time.

For Comparison Penn State is 32-2, and Michigan is 23-1 against the MAC all time. Being 1 of those wins seem more bragable in our footprint.

That was Nebraska’s first loss to a G5 school since 2004. Period. So yes, very good win, especially on the road.
