And a couple of WRs getting a lot of snaps as well. Bodes well for the offensive future. Hopefully they can click this weekend!

As an old coach of mine liked to say "anything green grows". Here's hoping we see the fruit of that growth Saturday!

I don't think we can score as many points as JMU. I think we'll play hard. Hoping for something close and exciting for the homecoming crowd.

I actually think our defense is top notch-in fact, I would put our defensive line up against any offense- Stevens, Murray, Ahola and Johson are rock solid, and the freshman Kiely had 6 tackles last week, which is crazy with the limited snaps he gets. Those guys have freed up our LB's to perform at a very high level, which is a sign of a great front 7. I would like to see more press coverage from our secondary, they will really need to step up against JMU

I was referring to our offense that scored zero points last week. I don't think we'll score as many points as JMU.

RE: Game 7- James Madison
It is possible to run the table with the schools remaining on our schedule. It’s a lot to ask though.
My hope is that the defense continues its play. JMU can put up points, we’ll need our best effort. I know these guys are excited and up for this challenge.
Offensively, we’ve lacked continuity. It’s totally understandable. Three QB’s, continuous subbing of WR’s through the first 6 games. There’s timing involved with these two positions. Now that it appears we’ve decided on a QB with Mitchell and RB with Funderburke and Evans, I hope we can decide on 4-5 WRs, sub them when needed, but keep them in the game with the QB. Get some consistency and continuity between QB and WR in a game. Game speed is different than practice speed. Scout teams can’t imitate the reactions and speed of the opponent.
If we can create some continuity on offense we can sustain drives, keep our defense fresh and have the opportunity to put more points on the board.
Upsets happen every week. This week is the perfect time to play spoiler.

The dukette board would have one think that Wm and Mary may not as well show up!! Have they reincarnated the four horsemen of the apocalypse? This would be an upset for the ages. Get ready for some fireworks!!

Ww have very little to lose Saturday...bug underdogs to the #1 team in the nation. I hope we open up the entire playbook and throw away the ultra-conservative offense.

Jmu has a small quick defensive line. I think we underestimate our ability to run the ball straight ahead. I think that is where we need to go focus for this game. Free Mitchell up for boots and rollouts. I think we can dominate time of possession against this defense. The question is can we score?

Never a great sign, but the line just went up from JMU -21, to JMU -24 1/2 .
Las Vegas does not seem to think we are going to show up.

I would counter by saying that if we get the ground game established with the one-two punch of our (in my opinion) two biggest weapons on offense not only would that hopefully lead to points on the board, it would shorten the game, wear down on JMU's defense, and give our defense a chance to breathe - which they will need. It would then open up the passing game as well. That's how we keep this a winnable game into the 4th Q in my eyes.
However, I will acknowledge that we will see some "trick" plays though, like the 2pt vs Stony Brook, and I can't wait to hear how loud Zable will be rocking when they work!!

Agree, pound the ball right at them.

I would concentrate on winning the field position game, unlike last weeks results, pound the ball right at them 60-70% of the plays with 25-30% open playbook plays and 5-10% special design gimmicks.
The defense is capable, the offense & special teams need to be good enough to give the d an honest chance to win the game.
+24.5 seems like a good bet.

Indeed a good idea to run right at a smallish, but quick defense. Try to negate the pursuit. Special teams must be much better.

RE: Game 7- James Madison
Just for fun I wandered over to their board. I can’t say I disagree with anything they are saying. They are focusing on the numbers.
I imagine Washington fans did against ASU, and Oklahoma fans did against Iowa St., and Clemson fans did against Syracuse. The game was played and as it happens sometimes there are never imagined upsets.
I hope our coaching staff is confident in their players. I hope they are feeding our players with belief. I hope the coaches lead by example. We need pure natural energy on our sideline Saturday. Not cheerleaders in pads, but towel waving, game loving, passionate excitement. From the opening kickoff to the final horn.
Our fans would feed off of that emotion. Spirited, passionate play on the field, to the sidelines, up into the bleachers.
