RE: Hate Week: Let the Great Hate Debate Begin
Bahaha look at this dude trying to put himself on USM, La Tech, and Rice's level. Rice was in the SWC, you were the reject that was left out. La Tech and USM have rich, recent history. You OTOH been mediocre for 65 years, with the last 22 being absolute bottom of the barrel years. Maybe you were good your first 40 years of existence but those days are long gone.

Just lol at talking about anyone else's deficiencies despite your latest failed attempt at FBS relevancy. You have a .300 winning percentage since you jumped back up, bro. I repeat .300 winning percentage. Do you have any idea how horrible that is?

Newsflash: you aren't in CUSA because of your impressive and historic .300 winning percentage or bc you are in any way peers with those schools you named, you're here because of the DFW market. Just like we're here bc of the SA market.

you seem obsessively hung up on our winning percentage in a cherry-picked timeframe that suits your purpose (it's easy to tell that you were/are a t-shirt Texas-Austin fan). so here's some numbers for you as to why UTSA is pretty much a community college.

Only 22% of freshmen who enroll at UTSA graduate within 6 years.
35% of UTSA freshmen transfer to another Texas university...because UTSA is a greater SA community college

And in such numbers is found the true reason for the UTSA hate and angst towards UNT; they have an inferiority complex that they'll never measure up to daddy (UT) or big brother (UNT)

North Texas is in C-USA because we have over 38,000 students, 300,000 alumni, built one of the finest football stadiums in the conference, have a competitive history with the other members in our division, have hall of famers, have bowl wins, won 4 conference titles in our previous conference, and are located in DFW.

UT-SA didn't get in because they are in San Antonio. Despite their shortcomings, UT-SA got in because they are the only program in San Antonio. Go win a bowl and earn your keep youngin'.

Why wouldn't I be hung up on .300? If that doesn't scream out trash program idk what does. If I was picking out one or two years that'd be cherry picking, when it's the past 25 years though that's just your reality. You're a consistently, terrible program.

Academically, you are good at pumping out middle school band teachers and people in broadcasting (although funny enough I dont think anyone at UNT has reached the heights Beadle has in the broadcasting game). Other than that nothing about UNT stands out academically. Your "law school" isn't even accredited. Your engineering program was only recently founded. What are you even known for in the sciences?

Right. Texas Northern has soooooo much going for it. Makes you wonder why they were overlooked so many times by so many conferences (including CUSA). Also makes you wonder how a program with soooo much going for it can end up with a .300 win percentage over the past 25 years, including a 1-3 record against measly UT San Antonio.

Have you ever thought that maybe you think way more highly of Texas Northern than the rest of the world does?

Pretty sure you just admitted that UT is your daddy. Maybe next time your school changes its name you can finally become UT-Denton like you've always dreamt of.

This discussion is beyond silly at this point. Put those seat belts back on and stop yammering back there or we'll stop this car.

UNT fans default retort is always about academics or the fact that UTSA started as a commuter school. What does this have to do with sports? How is this at all relevant to the football programs? It is the most asinine argument ever uttered. I graduated from UTSA and make a healthy 6-figure salary. How does that compare to being a professional tuba player with your fine arts degree?

Funny you should be obsessed with this since UTSA has a .333 winning percentage against FBS competition since becoming an FBS member

and North Texas win percentage since coming back up is actually .349.

so your best period of football ever is still worse than our worst.

How about an apples to apples comparison - conference record since joining C-USA:
UTSA: 17-16
North Texas State Teachers College: 14-20

They don't teach math at the music school or what?

We've played 41 games since becoming a full FBS member. We've won 16 of those (39%). If you include our two transitional years, and why wouldn't you unless you are a salty Texas Northern fan , that jumps up to ~48%.

A for effort though since I know math isn't your music school's strong suit.

my math game was pretty solid. it's your reading comprehension that leaves something to be desired, but since I'm in a generous mood I'll take your hand and walk you through the math, pumpkin.

UTSA has played 41 games since becoming a full FBS member, but 3 wins were against non-FBS members (Charlotte 2014, Alabama St 2015, Southern 2016). I'm being generous and letting you keep some others (Texas State?). 13/38 = .342. I admit I did make an error earlier, but it was an error of commission. I had y'all at 13/39 <--failed to remove UH (42-3 instead of 41-3); thankfully Harvey kept y'all from having to add that L to the column. my mistake

I understand though why you want to keep games against Northwestern OK State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Georgia State, Minot State, Bacone, McNeese St and Northeastern Oklahoma on the record.

And in that same timeframe, North Texas State Normal College is 10-28 against FBS opposition (26%). But we can keep doing the apples-to-oranges comparisons if it makes you feel good about yourself.

It's almost like we live in a state in which a few state schools poured as much money as possible into athletics post WWII, and then once they had built a huge head start, changed the rules on how state money could be used for athletics.
