I agree about the cop out.

That said, while EMU (and WMU) were on one side, how about the rest of the MAC besides CMU?

I believe the MAC was 3 MI schools, NIU, BSU, TOL and BG, MIA and Ohio and Kent.

NIU left the MAC and rejoined. Akron was added in '91 or '92 and UB was also added. Marshall came (and left) later.

There were 8 schools who voted to start the process (WMU and EMU opposed).

I say beat Ohio Saturday and then TOL, NIU, BSU, CMU, MIA and BG. Feel free to run the score up. Beat WMU but don't run the score up.

I have no problem going 8 - 0 in the MAC... 03-cloud9 That will teach them... Lol.

The point was that Central voted with others to have Eastern drop football. Their reasons I'm sure were self serving. One less Michigan member in the MAC, and that would strengthen their position with recruiting, as well as one less Michigan school to play every year.
You may find Central blameless, but I will not change my feelings about them. How long do think Eastern would have stayed in the MAC without football?
You also mentioned on the critical vote they abstained. Why didn't they vote no?

No one is asking you to personally change your feelings, I was simply asking to report the truth, not a half-truth.

CMU, by all articles we have read, abstained because they wanted to please both sides. You're acting like this was some split between the schools. WMU voted no, and CMU abstained. Not really a big deal at all. If this were reversed you would be laughing at the fact that someone holds a grudge over it.

Dear george14,
Not really a big deal?!!!! Your school votes with the other seven to make Eastern drop football in order to stay in the league. Really. Stop trying to make Central out to be this paragon of fairness. You were self serving and are self serving. That's who you are. Learn to live with it.

Ken, Ken, Ken...

It's over, the Civil War is over, etc. etc.

CMU is no more, or less, 'guilty' than 7 other 'unnamed' MAC schools.

Singling out one school, CMU, seems unfair to me. And remember, TOL and BG are much closer to Ypsilanti than is Mt. Pleasant.

Dear steve,
Please stop acting like Central had no choice in the votes, they're just innocent bystanders, and didn't know which way to go. It may be unfair to you, but they are a sister school here in Michigan. I stand by my previous statements in this discussion. Like I said very early on, if you want to root for Central, be my guest.

Agreed. If Ken wants to hate on CMU because of this vote, that is his right as a fan.

Sports emotions are a distraction--hopefully, a silly, cathartic, enjoyable, distraction.

If this bothers you, I can only imagine what type of grudges you hold against your family/friends.

Dear george14,
You finally discovered that this episode bothers me. Because you can't think of anything better to say, you attack my character, which is typical of people like you.

Amen. This discussion needs to come to a merciful end. The fact is, EMU was an embarrassment to the other conference members back then. They were completely inept on and off the field, set the national losing streak record, and played in a glorified empty high school stadium. EMU then rose from the dead and gave us the greatest season in EMU football history and redeemed themselves in the eyes of many. Today their standing in the MAC is strong and why does anyone want to revisit those dark days? Just win.

Yeah but one time last season an EMU player taunted a CMU running back. CMU has lost Ontario Sneed and Zurlon Tipton, rest in peace to both of them.

I still can't get over the fact that an EMU player taunted CMU after knowing a few CMU running backs have passed away. I can't wait until 2052 when I still hold this grudge!

Dear Bob,
No one was revisiting as you called them, "those dark days". Since when has Rynearson been a glorified high school stadium? In your original thread here, of, The MAC is Back, I just told you why I could not root for Central.

Dear george14,
How do I know what you have just said is the truth? You offer no documentation, or a website to go to. Just a pure made up story.

Bob you really need to do standup when you can post jokes like these on this board with a straight face.
