I wouldn't hold your admin to the fire. There are millions without power. Putting football first this fall actually shows a serious lack of priorities.
Has the power gone out in Orlando? This would be an issue if there isn't any certainty if the power will be on by Saturday.
Relatives in Orlando report loss of power since about 4:00 Sunday.

Apparently Rick "Lord Voldemort" Scott volunteered our campus to host 1,000+ National Guard troops and their entire armada.
That's an honorable thing to do. I'm not sure why this upsets you given what just happened in Florida.
To some, football is more important.

Because we bought season tickets and want home games. You should understand that.

Why didn't he offer UF's campus? There's an empty stadium in Downtown Orlando with more than enough space to use.
Lakeland has plenty of open space, much closer to easy interstate access? Why UCF? Rick Scott has done ZERO favors for UCF, why should we do anything for him?
You know, sometimes being a good human is about more than just scratching each other's backs.
I'm sure you'd be saying exactly the same thing if Houston cancelled the Texas Tech and Rice games because of Harvey and an incompetent governor.
Incompetent? Scott seems to be getting very high marks for how he handled Irma, even from liberal sources.
Some petulance being exhibited here. As the UCF President said, UCF is honored to be hosting National Guardsmen doing important Irma-related work. Football is meaningless in this context. Get some perspective, eh?

RE: GT @ UCF cancelled.
I've seen nothing but national praise for Florida's governor through this process. From my standpoint, I can't recall a governor being on TV more imploring safety throughout the process.
If anyone had said a week ago that the end result of this hurricane would have been the current status of citizen's lives, etc; everyone would have cheered. However, the loss of 60 minutes of football action seems to be at the top of a couple of _____'s list of importance.
Glad our UCF friends seem to be safe and secure.

The decision has never been the safety of Floridian citizens OR playing a football game. This is Florida, everything will be back to normal by tomorrow, excluding the hardest hit areas in SOUTH Florida (not Tampa).
Disney and Universal are opening TODAY, Tampa is hosting two football games, FSU and Miami postponed their game, UF will play their game one way or another.
Why couldn't UCF avoid cancelling this game one way or another, the second game in a row cancelled? Why did Rick Scott volunteer UCF's campus and not UF's, or any of another equally accessible and local locations? Rick Scott's incompetence doesn't stem from his ability to manage crises. Even George W. Bush performed admirably and effectively in the face of 9/11.

The governor's office determined that UCF's stadium was the optimal location, what's so hard about that to accept? You are in no position to question that as you don't have the information they have.

Do you really think Gainesville is as accessible as UCF? I am sure that in the back of his mind Rick Scott is really concerned about screwing UCF It is simple. For UCF the decision was that the money was not worth the risk and hassle. It takes them three days in a normal situation to get ready for gameday. With much of their resources busy elsewhere no way they get it done. think of all the security and emergency response people who are necessary to put on a football game, let alone the employees, concessions workers, field maintenance etc. UCF made the right decision for this game...last game was not their decision evidently but they supported the decision.
Much of Oviedo still without power. I have family staying at Disney Springs because that is the only place they could find a hotel.
UCF will regroup and have extra time and rest to prepare for Maryland.
