You people seem to think we're going undefeated with a 40-point average margin of victory. We might. We might not, too.

ECU had zero credibility to trash talk us. They were 3-9 last year and were proven to be delusional. We actually had reason to be confident and we backed it up.

While I understand your point, we are fans on a message board. When I'm at a game and we beat the pants off a team, you'll never see me running around them bragging about our win. On a message board, when other fans want to come here and mix it up, I like to have fun with it. When a 3-9 team comes over here saying they'll thump us, I want to tell them why they're wrong. At the same time, if we get our butts handed to us, I'll be the first to congratulate them on being the better team.

Even NDSU, a program that has solidified itself as a powerhouse, has fans that trash talk and mix it up with the better of them. There's a big difference between talking trash when you have nothing to back it up versus talking trash when your team gives you validation to be confident in your team.

Of course we could falter and lose, because any team can lose to anybody, but I'm not going to live my life in fear of what might happen. Should I be pessimistic because we might not win? Of course not. I refuse to be afraid to speak my mind because of what might or might not happen.
And until it happens, I expect our team to have 40+ margins of victory and be undefeated. If it doesn't happen, I'll shrug it off and move on and continue to support my team and have fun..... and be delusional as any good fan should be.

I prefer 94's attitude to some of the hubris that goes on here and AGS. No one on here knew the result of the ECU game as fact. It's all conjecture and opinion, no matter how informed and reasonable they may be. I personally like to modulate my attitude based on the audience. To esteemed rivals like W&M, Villanova, and Delaware I'll be civil and respectful. To nefarious opponents like RU and admin apologists, derision is the soup of the day.

AGS is a cesspool. I understand how my comment may have sounded a bit like I didn't want moderation, but that's far from the case. I think what we have here is great and would never want it to get to that level.
I don't think I'm at the smack talk level of some of the pros here (not naming any names! :)) but I do like to have fun. I don't think there's anything wrong with a fan thinking we'll run the table and blow a team off the field (especially if you have information to back up your feelings). I do have an issue when things get personal or go to levels that are just not cool.
Just wanted to clear that up.

I enjoy AGS - yes it's kind of the Wild West but it also has a LOT of posters from other fanbases that can teach you things about their teams and give you better perspective than just dukes fans. Also if Alexale is on this board please stop posting ever thanks, that dude has more to ruin our rep than any other troll, and I include myself in that.

Also - ran into some ETSU parents in the hotel in Hburg tonight. Their son is the starting linebacker. Really nice people, invited them to PLot tomorrow. If you see some ETSU fans wandering around be sure to offer a beer and a handshake and then send them our way.

If the 2017 JMU D can shut out ECU for a half, and ultimately only give up 14 points, the odds of JMU shutting out ETSU for an entire game are excellent. Not saying JMU will shut them out, only that the odds would seem to favor it. ETSU is about to find out playing a DII at home is a whole different animal than playing away at the home opener of the defending national champs.

Prediction? Pain for ETSU.

Maybe. Just know for most of our players, this is their third year starting in their positions. Not many teams can say that. Most of our guys starting, this is their 4th year of college. So their basically seniors who've started for 3 years. And they'll all be back again next year. So while I think you guys will be the best team we've faced since restarting football, I also think we can compete.

Not to rain on your parade (and it's a beautiful day in Harrisonburg) but here's some news for you true ETSU believers. You're team is lining up against the national champs. A team that embarrassed a FBS team last week. Let that sink in for a second. You'll see what that means later today, however, there's no "maybe" about the game's outcome. Compete? As in "take the field, give effort and never quit"? I hope so, because if ETSU does your program will ultimately be better for it. "Compete" as in stop or beat JMU? Or keep the final outcome close? Nope. Sorry. I call 'em as I see them, and ETSU is no better than Morehouse or Rhode Island. The outcome will see JMU put up 50+ and if ETSU scores twice you should give your guys a trophy.

ETSU can award their players a trophy for scoring twice, but as predicted JMU put up more than 50, and the game was never in doubt.

The ETSU run defense was actually pretty stout. They held us to 122 yards rushing and were never able to get much of a run game established. Something to work on.
