Good for them....What would the SB say to that offer? Was an offer like that ever made to the SB?

If Liberty really is so much better off as an independent, someone forgot to tell their administration, who seems really desperate to get in a conference.

I'd be willing to bet the Sunbelt got a sizeable offer but not THAT sizeable.
As I said over on the CUSA board, doing the Lord's work tax free has its benefits.

I thought DeVry was the one with the football team? I get all those online diploma, money scam schools confused with each other.

I may not care for liberty U's social agenda but they are fully SACS accredited.

Ask Troy fans about DeVry's sports teams

Did it say when the offer was made, I'd bet it was before the made the decision and announcement to do it as an independent.

This. The CUSA offer was made well before FBS independent. The gist of the article is that we offered...CUSA said no...now we're happy as an independent. Which we are.

They tried first to get into the SB and CUSA, after both said no, they get approval for Indy moveup. It will be the best thing that could happen. Liberty would be spending Alabama size money that no SB team would even competitive with.
They'll be like BYU.

Liberty never won in the Big South with a clear financial advantage over all of those schools.

There are a lot of schools that spend truck loads of money, and don't win. Last time I checked, no one has ever rolled their checkbook out on the field and scored points.

If they offer Benson a few rounds of golf, we're sunk.

I don't think they'll achieve the level of BYU's accomplishment, but overall I agree.
And honestly, I applaud them for trying everything they could to get a conference invite while not changing who they are.
I may not agree with who they are... But I can appreciate standing true to their values.

Sure they have, it's called the SEC.

First: NICE game last Saturday!
Second: Just because they have the deep pockets, doesn't mean that they've ever unleashed that power. With that kind of money, is any Head coach safe outside of Alabama or Texas? A few sure, but they could get a lot of coaching talent and build the finest facilities in the country.

So the article's point that Liberty is better off is that they have great athletic facilities and beat Baylor...
Ok then.
