God I hope Santa is ready......

He'll be ready, seems like a good overall athlete. He looks like a better runner than Graham, althoughGraham did pop off that 60 yarder against BC. It wasn't his fault they kept calling the keeper up the middle, which wasn't going anywhere.

Hopefully Santa will have a good long ball, if for nothing else than to open the run game.

No he does not. What he calls is the strategy on how he wants the offense to play. if they want to pound the ball all day or throw it 50 times, Carey has final say. He doesn't select the plays, but the offenses game plan is on him.

This. The O.C. works for Carey. While Carey doesn't call the plays, he owns it all. All of it.

+1

With 1:59 left on our own 14 and BC having all 3 TO's we needed ONE first down or BC would have great field position with a punt.
1:59 is a LOT of time. BC got it with 1:34 left and needed only 1:04 to score from mid field.

That was the game right there.

I get a feeling this was the plan all along, have Graham start opener have Santa start the next, and compare. Id be willing to bet anything this is more about extended fall camp into the season than it is about injury. This gives Santa a warm up game, and a real game vs Nebraska, and then an off week to decide who to go with the rest of the year (i.e. 2-4 week "injury"). I just think you need to decide your QB before the season starts, oh well.

Graham threw for 200 with two TDs and a pick with a bad percentage...did not lose the game for us.

Far from numbers they would be willing to replace a first week performance against an extremely good defense.

Again, reference Hares numbers against BC or Lynch's vs Florida state.

He was not benched.

I wouldn't call it a benching I just think Carey all along wanted to use two QBs and this is the way he is choosing to do it is my theory. I think he wanted to give both players time to begin the year and then maybe eventually choose someone later

And actually going this route to play the two is genius from a coaching accountability standpoint too because you kind of deflect criticism of a 2 QB system. Kind of takes the accountability out of your court

MD, use any logic at all and you would know what you are saying is asinine. No one would allow a coach to fake injuries to their starting QB to get a look at their backup QB.

Graham is injured, just like last year and the year before.

Yes, there has been some inconsistency, but there's one thing that's consistent and (almost) unanimous:

FIRE CAREY!!

yup

You may be right but if I was a betting man I would say there are other factors at play also.

I do think we'll see 3-4 QBs play this year. Childers in the on deck circle now, and practices just got more interesting for #3 and #4 (Hall, Thompson, person x?). I don't wish injury on anyone, but, I'm now accustomed to QB turn-over. NIU had a rash of this in the recent years, but, it's all over.
Rare are the teams with good QBs who are consistent starters.

Thompson is on deck, not Childers.

Keep in mind though Graham should be back before conference play, if not San Diego State.

I agree, I think we will see 3 to 4 QBs play this year. Childers is probably the best of the bunch, so hope he gets some experience this year. After re-watching that Kent game a few weeks ago, Im somewhat excited to see what Santa does

Yea, too bad for Graham... but other than his first appearance when Hare went down and mayB the next game... I was not exactly excited to see him play/ start. He seems to try hard and all that good stuff, but I had no interest in watching him try to move us down the field nor have the confidence that he could pull off a game winning drive.

Next-Up 04-cheers

That's just going off Carey's comments from Tuesday's presser.

Also, I love Eddie, but if you asked him he would tell you I know more about NIU football than he does.

The fact Carey felt the need to omit Graham being hurt before they play Eastern is behind silly.

This could be a Ryan Morris type season. At some point, we may need to go 100% Wildcat with Mister.

They have 4 scholarship, non true-freshman QBs, and graham will at most miss 3 games. Let's not go this far yet lol

Still don't think Graham is hurt enough that he can't play. This is fall camp extension.
