I'm also looking for a parking pass for the first home game. P Lot, G Lot, Convo would all be good.

But the "shuttle is on"....they'd be better off as fans if they walk through and stop by P lot on the way to stadium.

*OVER GENERALIZATION AHEAD*

If you have a legitimate need to park closer to the stadium, JMU will accommodate that, pretty sure that's what the ADA says they have to do. If you don't and you're complaining about the lack of a free shuttle...perhaps you need the walk...

That being said, I'm glad athletics was responsive to the outburst of outrage and is reinstating the shuttle, but I would bet it is not back next year for Convo lot unless they make that a higher donation.

I missed it. What's happening on Facebook? Please assist the Facebook illiterate.

RE: PARKNG FIRST HOME GAME
generalizing what I gleaned from posts:

JMU transportation recommended to cancel the shuttle from Convo to Bridgeforth on Gamedays because of underuse, and heavy traffic (the loop often takes 30-40 minutes to lap between the two). So Athletics cancelled it today and notified pass holders. A couple "mad" posters on facebook started crying out about it. It seems Athletics has since reversed their position, and will still offer the shuttle.

I'll grant people with mobility issues an excuse... but yeah JMU will usually accommodate anyone who has a documented issue who needs it. But the posts came off very whiney, and I didn't have much sympathy for that. You paid somewhere from $0-$50 for the parking. Walk your arse to the stadium.

Young, physically able, likely childless posters whining that other people aren't walking from a lot that is also likely further away than they park themselves. Sounds about right.

So you admit they need to increase their donations or go the ADA route? Okay!

Frankly, I'm just grateful anyone shows up. When you piss off fans, they stop showing up. Maybe consider someone else's situation?

There are avenues for people with real disabilities. If someone has a disability they can get picked up, or park in the ADA lots. If not, and they just prefer to be closer, then they need to donate more. I mean it sounds like they resolved it but to be honest you have to draw the line somewhere. Just because people are upset about it doesn't mean its wrong.

What if they have a tailgating group that is in convo and has been for years and only some people are old and have trouble walking far? The entire group can't get handicap accommodations.

It's just something dumb to get upset about people voicing their dissatisfaction about. I know I'll be old one day.

It's refreshing to see JMU actually listen to its fans for a change to be honest. We're so used to being ignored.

RE: PARKNG FIRST HOME GAME
Potomac don't act like JMU ignores fans. That's garbage. JMU accommodates and coddles supporters WAY more than many more institutions, ESPECIALLY at their giving levels. JMU just gave people who donate $50 or less (some of them probably $0 because the pass is included in family packs) a free ride to the game. THAT'S customer service. JMU doesn't owe them sh!t and they're crying like they are owed something.

Name one other FBS university that you've traveled to where JMU has played where they've offered a shuttle from BFE? I can't think of one. I've never hitched a shuttle to a football game at another university, I've walked it with every other fan.

I can't speak to the shuttles at the FBS games I've been to. If they had them, I didn't utilize them.

I don't think there needs to be a shuttle from Convo lot. But I do think that if there always has been one and it's getting cancelled, it should be decided and made public prior to reparking.

RE: PARKNG FIRST HOME GAME
I went to a Michigan football game and there were free shuttles everywhere.

I'm on the fence about the complaining. On one hand, people are whiny. entitled, spoiled brats. On the other hand, I wonder if having to walk a good hike to the stadium keeps a so-so fan from coming back to another game.

I'm not pro-shuttle at all and think it's a waste, but it's not downhill both ways. That's just the opposite of my father's old line that he had to walk to school in two feet of snow and it was uphill both ways. 04-cheers
