Would you rather another C-USA team other than WKU AND YOUR OWN win the C-USA Champsionship this year OR have an undefeated WKU win the Championship and make the Access Bowl?

It's my contention that WKU is the only C-USA team that could make a New Years Day Game this year from our conference and that's mainly based on the last couple or years performance built in to the equation.

I UNDERSTAND THAT EVRYONE WANTS THEIR TEAM TO WIN IT, but if given the choice of another team besides your own that just makes some conference tie in bowl or The Hated Hilltoppers running the gambit and repping the conference in the Access Bowl...WHO YOU GOT?

...and yeah, I know you all are going to say the Tops won't go undefeated. Just play along...

But to answer your question.. if USM doesnt' make it to a NYD bowl undefeated, and any other team could, I'd pull for them to do so...(unless they're playing USM, then I hope they don't make it undefeated)

Look, after what we did to Marshall in 2014, NO ONE will have sympathy for us - nor should they. Sure, money-wise it would be better, but if we didn't care then, we shouldn't expect others to care now.

I know we have a somewhat favorable schedule, but let's play a game first before we start talking about going undefeated vs. 1 loss.

First of all, you're not that hated. Second of all you haven't built a reputation that will get you anywhere. And third there are other teams in CUSA that have way better OOC schedules that would help them if they went undefeated. That said, next to my team I will root for any CUSA that can to all the way.

No. No offense CUSA, but I don't root for any school to do better than MT.

If Tech, or any other CUSA team, goes undefeated they will have a legit chance at the access bowl. WKUs success the previous 2 seasons have nothing to do with this season from that perspective.

No one in this conference is contending for the Access Bowl this year, I don't see anyone getting to 13-1, let alone 14-0.

We have seen so many teams move in and out of this conference. It is a shell of itself when it started. I personally have no loyalty to the conference and would not specifically root for any CUSA team other than USM in a big bowl. I know that is not popular opinion. The teams in this conference need to be figuring out how to generate revenue, unfortunately for the G5 it's each man on his own sitting in their own foxhole.

If CUSA teams the next three years in a row made it to a big bowl and won, I would argue the perception of the conference would not change, even though the perception of the team(s) that made it would, albeit only if the success was sustained, i.e - UCF is the same ole UCF today b/c of their drop-off after their big bowl game.

Within 10 years, another separation will take place - Semi-Pro/P5 (56 teams or so) will be "D1". The rest fall off to FCS and D2 - no revenue to be had.

The problem with your perception, is that USM gets more money if someone from C-USA makes an Access Bowl. The team that makes it gets most, but we all get some.

Yes, hence I said "teams" in C-USA, USM included.

I hope our conference champ goes to the access bowl. I don't agree that WKU is the only one with a shot at that. If it's WKU- access bowl vs other CUSA team with no access bowl, I will root for WKU. In the Championship I will be rooting for Tech or whoever has the best chance to go to an access bowl. That is it.

I would also root for any CUSA team that would elevate the league by playing in a major Bowl game. I honestly don't see any team from the conference coming close to it this year. I know its preseason and everyone loves their team right now, but I see flaws with every team including ODU.

WKU and LT lost major contributors and I don't see either team being better than last year's team. Don't get me wrong, I think both teams will still be very talented and the best in the conference. I expect MT to be in that conversation and for the defense to show signs of improvement, but still have a long ways to go in order to be able to go undefeated.

ODU will regress at QB and has problems at LB. Southern Miss will improve but won't beat teams that can shut down their run game. UTSA is starting to show promise and I like what they are doing, but they are still a year away from being a top tier team in conference.

I'm not trying to be a piss on anyone's team, but just be realistic. Overall, I think CUSA is going to be better this year.

I do not think anyone hates WKU. But, if we were coming up against an undefeated WKU with a chance at a New Year bowl, I could not give a damn about WKU's aspiration and would hope we beat them.

I would be happy if USM has 8 wins this season. I think if MT stays healthy, they have as good a shot with having 3 beatable P5 teams on their schedule.

The last couple years WKU has done great, but I'm not sure if it matters. CMU was 8-5 in 2015 and 2014. They were 1-11 in 2013. Based on that, not sure WKU's performance last couple years will move the Access bowl needle any more than if UTSA goes undefeated.

Any CUSA team can go undefeated and a 1 loss (maybe 2) South Florida team would jump us. Unless we beat a top 10 P5 team.

I think the point is unless our new coach ***** the bed, we have the most winnable ooc that includes 2 less than stellar P5s.

You do realize that when other CUSA teams win games against good opponents it helps USM don't you? The stronger our schedule the more tickets we sell, the more respect we get. If a 3 and 6 CUSA team comes to play at USM as opposed to a 9 and 0 one, the undefeated sells more tickets and helps us when we win. The 3 and 6 team does nothing for us. So yes, I pull for the better teams in the conference. Just because it helps USM is all the reason I need.
