Tribune: Three QBs in the Running for Northern Illinois' Job
"I would love it if someone would separate himself in practice and we knew this was the guy. I'm still hopeful that can happen. That is how a team functions best. But I've been through it where the competition bled into the season. That could happen too."
Extra points: Jordan Nettles, a freshman running back from Romeoville, has been the breakout star through two weeks of camp. Carey said it might be difficult to keep Nettles off the field despite the Huskies' depth at the position behind Jordan Huff, who rushed for 703 yards on 6.3 yards per carry last season.

From his High School highlights Nettles looks like a home run hitter. We have three running backs like that now. Huff, Jones, and Nettles( if he doesn't redshirt).

They're all very different runners with home run potential so it will be interesting to see how they're rotated.

This is seriously the nightmare that never ends, please can we get a damn coach who is capable of evaluating talent and making a decision.

Im starting to understand why Carey teams get hurt so much, nobody knows their role. That, and being tentative/not aggressive are recipes for injury

We know Carey could do nothing right in your mind; but could it be ... a) he already has his starter picked but sees no value in tipping his hand to the competition or b) he is giving every opportunity possible to your guy (Childers) to win the spot, but to date he simply hasn't proven to be the best choice

You will remember how Carey finally settled on Hare as a starter after the Northwestern game in '14. He might use the BC game to determine his starter this year.

It is time for Carey to be dismissed, Im sorry but it is. He cannot even make the most important decision a head coach should make. He needs to go, there is no way to sugar coat this anymore

Anybody or anything at this point, he literally cannot make a decision. This team needs to move forward and move on

Sorry but I need to beg for something to. If you aren't going to use summer camp to make any personnel decisions, then in the name of all that is holy, pull the players off the field so no one gets injured. If the first 6 weeks of the season are going to be the summer camp, don't risk injuring players now. I am appalled at this, I just cannot even put into words how outrageous this is that we have a head coach who cannot do his job. I am officially done for the rest of the year talking about Carey. I just have no words anymore.

All evidence to the contrary.
No offense MD, but it's impossible to take you at your word(s anymore). Since you average over seven posts per day, we're all worried about withdrawal pain, so please take two aspirin and simply stay off your keyboard for just 24 hours. It's doubtful that you'll even make it to the season opener without commenting on Carey again.

7 posts is restraint. Should be 14! And stop spying and stalking me. It's creepy like ewwww.

Carey telling Childers straight up he's got the most ability makes it sound like he's dying for him to win the job.

I do agree the Rod Carey Qb controversy is nauseating. We have been through it before. Organizations function better when a leader is named.... not this 3 down to the wire, all being almost equal so let them all think they are the guy BS. I stick up for Carey all the time but this is pretty annoying.
