CSUB fundraising series in TBC

Ok, I'm not really sure how this fits in with the new post guidelines around here. I dont want to enrage people. Its not really glorification, but more informational. I'm guessing...most WAC schools are moving in this direction / the health (state) of the conference to a degree.

Move it to the CSUB boards if you need to, mods.

Very true. As a GCU stockholder for the last six years, I have never received a single dividend.
I do find it fascinating that the very term "for-profit" seems to conjure up money grubbing individuals who have no desire to place the students' interests first. While a "non-profit" is not money grubbing yet "has no reason not to spend every dollar it generates." Hmm... What ever happened to saving for a rainy day?

Budgets & revenue definitely fit any college athletics convo. With so much competition for entertainment dollars across the country, it is interesting to hear what is working in different places. Love hearing how CSUB is leveraging the interest after the tourney appearance & NIT run. I have a whole new level of respect for job NMSU administrators have done with limited resources, especially when it is contrasted with the buffoonery happening up in ABQ. I think we are all rooting for "the little Cougars that could" at Chicago St, given all the financial challenges they've face.

Semi related most season tickets for CSUB including a new section they made this year called bleacher reserved are already sold out. I think most games will be sold out this year which is so awesome. Can't wait for the season to start.

Can't wait for the season to start either. I predict the WAC as a whole will see a major uptick in attendance.

Runnerball can you post part two and three of this series when they come out. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing these two articles. It sounds like CSUB is gambling a lot on the success of their men's basketball program.
"Will those dollars continue to be generated in record amounts without a strong men’s basketball program? While no one – not even the AD – knows the answer to that, what is clear is that the rising tide of men’s basketball can lift all of CSUB’s programs."

Most schools do because no other sports produce revenue.. There's nothing inherently wrong with it. A key is doing everything in their power to make Barnes stay. If not then get the best replacement possible. More and more quality coaches are taking shots at mid-majors these days. I have faith that one of those will happen and CSUB will be a top contender in the WAC for a while.
