You need better research. Fuente was the second football coach to ever leave Memphis for another job. The other was Fred Pancoast in the early 1960s.

I would be careful about totally dismissing it. He can sell the house and move the wife and kid (my guess is she is the primary caregiver). He will be allowed to run any offense/defense he wants and he will have a significant grace period before expectations mount.
The SEC - with its money and prestige - is a powerful lure to young coaches like Norvell and Frost.

I hope he sticks, I think he is great at UCF... but FWIW Taggart hdd just done all that too, house, etc... and he had family and ties to the Tampa area... these days I think anyone can be pried away for enough money.
Taggart is different. Frost really does his own thing. He has problems with Nebraska and somewhat with Oregon. Very few places that would allow him to run his brand of offense. Especially in the SEC

Definitely agree with your overall sentiment, but would just point out that Oregon has had a mostly sustained period of high results and has plenty of cash with Phil Knight to do whatever.
Ole Miss is going to be on probation, hopefully serious probation, and in the toughest division in football. They are job #6 of 7 in their division. I don't think you can win there like Freeze did without cheating your ass off or just being an amazing coach who gets more out of players than someone else.
I don't know about that. With a stellar coach, anything is possible. The state of Mississippi is basically Alabama's identical twin. Get the right guy and who knows...
The level of fan support and financial support is totally different. Mississippi produces a lot of talent, but it gets poached by the stronger programs.
But if you get the right guy, those players stay home and fan/financial support gets better with winning/contending.
Do you not think Saban could do the same job at Ole Miss that he's done at Alabama?

Chad Morris 3/1
Derek Dooley 5/1
Blake Anderson 7/1
Les Miles 8/1
Mike Norvell 10/1
Brent Venables 12/1
Scott Frost 14/1
Chip Kelly 14/1
Matt Luke 16/1
Neal Brown 16/1
Charlie Strong 16/1
Mike MacIntyre 16/1
Lane Kiffin 16/1
Willie Fritz 20/1
Bryan Harsin 20/1
Bobby Petrino 25/1
Field (Not Listed Above) 15/1
I'm not going to say that Morris won't go, because I know the Ole Miss job is a better job, but everyone tends to think he is gunning for the A&M position when Sumlin is let go. Besides, if he wanted a lower tier job in a major conference facing massive controversy and possible NCAA sanctions he could have gone to Baylor.

Recruiting. He and his staff did literally no recruiting - multiple articles and interviews with HS coaches in the DFW area confirmed that the staff were never seen or heard from. No talent = no wins and he was fired.

For real! On one hand it seems a little disrespectful his name gets passed over, but on the other hand I'm happy he's not mentioned so maybe he'll stay longer. I still think if we get 4 years with him we're doing good. Anything over that and we're playing with house money.
RE: Norvell & Frost Mentioned for Ole Miss Head Coach Job
Come Dec, Ole Miss job will be far down the pecking order list, especially with NCAA Investigation that will still be ongoing...as sanctions may not hit till a year (,,or longer from now) but just the investigation will hurt recruiting.
Ole Miss will over pay for a young coach from Sunbelt or CUSA or an old coordinator who has never had the chance to be head coach as they will know they will be fired in 2-3 years.
Or, an old, old unemployed coach who knows this will be his last job/paycheck who would just retire when fired after 2 years.
Someone will take the job for the money, but it won't be a wanted coach who has other options.

No but from what most have heard about Frost if he leaves he would want to go to a situation that has a location/resource advantage compared to the rest of their Division/Conference. So that is not Ole Miss
Jobs like Texas, Georgia, UCLA would be more appealing to Frost than a job in the same division as LSU & Bama

That's why I laugh at articles about Chad to Ole Miss. no secret his end game is Texas A&M which is fine as it means he left our program better than he found it
