Not so fast my friend. Hearing discussions of sodding it and growing a new variety of cannibus for medical and experimental use. Bag and bale the clippings for sale to laboratories and pharmacies. It pays for itself in 2.5 years.

USM signed an agreement with MS Grass Nursery of Hattiesburg in May. They will be installing Tifway 419 Bermuda in August following the already scheduled stadium improvements.

Actually it is patented Gautier Nutsedge 549 . Extremely durable and drought resistant . Developed right here on the coast to withstand our humid climate .

Hire Tory Harrison and it'll pay for itself a lot faster.

Wonder the actual cost differences are between natural and turf.

Sell it for recreational use and it'll pay for itself in three weeks.

RE: Will the Rock revert to natural grass again?
long term cost is a good question.....I'm certain one could do the due if so inclined.....

off the top of my head, (scary as that may be) one variable with grass that would be tough to define is playing games in sloppy conditions over time (resulting in resodding if back-to-back home games)

as a player, it's pretty much a gimme that grass is preferred....

also, one might want to look at the conference as a whole and match materials with the highest percentage of schools to help prepare for the speed factor.....would be akin to facing an 89 mph fastball vs. 94 mph vs. 100 mph....

my toast and jam for thought.....

I was told it cost 1M for initial turf, but less after that for replacement.

USM needs to go with the all gold field and eagle head logo at mid field. End zones can have simple angled black stripes like Notre Dame. Gets you some free publicity and free branding. Eastern Washington did the blood red field for a million and raised half of the money through donations I believe. Somebody setup one of them online donation campaigns and I will gladly put down $25......no wait....$50 dollars.

As I recall from the time we first replaced the natural grass field, the AD then said it was too hard to grow grass in the warm, humid sun belt climate of Hattiesburg.

We couldn't even hire somebody that could remember to feed our eagle, there's no way we could find somebody to remember to move the sprinkler every couple of hours.
