If it's 2028, it has to go back through the Cali legislature. Garcetti does not want that at all.

Most experts think Paris will host first followed by LA in 2028. Los Angeles can do fine if they can figure out something to do about their god-awful traffic over the next decade. I was a student at UCLA in 1984 when LA hosted the Olympics and that was great. Actually everyone was so nervous about traffic even then that a lot of people left town and the freeways were great. I doubt that will be the case this time around.

Eric Garcetti might be trying to take a page out of Mitt Romney's pagebook and parlay his Olympic aspirations into a presidential run. Of course Romney was CEO of the Salt Lake City Olympics but Garcetti is pretty much calling the shots in LA right now as far as the Olympics go.

If Paris doesn't host in 2024, it will be the longest Europe has gone without hosting the Olympics. Paris is pretty insistent on 2024.

If you have a decent home or condo you'd probably be able to pay for a nice vacation and pocket the difference if you put your place on Airbnb in a city as expensive as LA during such a high-demand time. Assuming Airbnb is a thing in the future.

Probably best if you have a few cities rotate as host cities allowing the use of the same venues multiple times. First World countries only. Third world nations have no business dumping billions into stadiums when they have starving people and no infrastructure.

RE: L.A Wins Summer Olympics Bid
Los Angeles likes to think of itself as the host of the last really successful Olympics. 1984 worked really well. The venues were mostly good, traffic was remarkably light, there were really no significant failures. (I worked an event to raise money for my school's aquatics program.) And the games were managed by Peter Ueberroth, who really understood how to run a large and complex operation. I don't expect that this time around. LA won't spend the kind of money the last few hosts have, but it'll still spend too much and it won't take as much in as projected. That said, it won't be a disaster like Brazil or Sochi, so we've got that going for us.

I'm torn on whether to leave town or stay and go see some events. Hopefully I can figure a way to move by then and not have to make a decision.

After the infrastructure/safety/zika/clean water debacle in Brazil I don't blame them for going back to first world nations lol.

LA is technicallly in a first world nation. If we can get calizuela to exit it wont be.
