Newest USA Today College Athletic Spending Spreadsheet
lol....The Texas vs Texas A&M rivalry continues. The Aggies take the top spot with UT nipping at their heels. UConn again tops the G5 in athletic spending.

Chicago State - $2,865 in ticket sales in 2016....that is one 50 yard line football ticket with required donation at a lot of major schools.

RE: Newest USA Today College Athletic Spending Spreadsheet
James Madison and UMASS are subsidized at a whopping 80%!!!

Rutgers is the most subsidized "P5" at 34%--higher than Boise (27%) New Mexico (29%) Arky St (30%)

Boise St is the least subsidized "G5" at 27%

USF beats Houston as the most subsidized AAC school at 49.62% vs 48.87%

Chicago St has a budget of 7 million; 88% subsidized. That's incredible, and lowest budget vs subsidy in the country.

Quote:The data, updated for 2016, are based on the revenue and expense reports collected from more than 225 public schools in the NCAA’s Division I that have an obligation to release the data (the NCAA does not release the data publicly). The others are private or are covered under a state exemption.

RE: Newest USA Today College Athletic Spending Spreadsheet
The question is this? La.-Monroe is number 170 on the list. The lowest of all FBS conference. There are some D2 spending more than several D1 schools right now as well.

The question are the FCS schools that are making money who are the big names. Where will they go if they continue spend the money they are at?

Top 150 D1 none FBS schools upgrading:
James Madison
Delaware
Cal.-Davis
VCU (if they add football, be a good steal for a G5 conference for basketball)
Stony Brook
New Hampshire (doing renovations for their stadium and all that)
Wichita State (add football)
Cal.-Poly
George Mason (add football)
Towson
Sacramento State
URI (I am surprise by them being up there)
Illinois State
William and Mary
Missouri State
North Dakota State
North Dakota
Kennesaw State
Southern Illinois
Idaho
Montana
Sam Houston State
Albany
Maine
Omaha (restart football)
Vermont (restart football)
College of Charleston (restart football)
Cal-Irvine add football
Montana State
Cal.-Santa Barbara
Long Beach State
Lamar
UMass.-Lowell
Cal-Riverside
East Tennessee State
Illinois-Chicago
SFA
Northern Iowa
Eastern Kentucky
South Dakota State
Citadel
Northern Arizona
Chattanooga

Those knocking to be in the top 150:
Fullerton State
Jacksonville State
Murray State
South Dakota
Northridge State
FGCU
Alabama State
Youngstown State
Indiana State
Cal. State-Bakersfield
UTRGV
UMKC
Portland State
Eastern Washington
Milwaukee
Western Carolina
UCA
Tennessee State
North Florida
McNeese State
Jackson State

Now, it just depends if football helps them bring in more money and all that by having games streaming live and all that. Adding football might help them be picked up. Milwaukee would be a good target for the MAC if they add football.
VCU might be a team to grab for their basketball if they add football.
Wichita State adding football could be up there with Boise State.

The schools have to play their cards out right, and who could get the call up. I know there are several teams that would be grabbed right away. Some of these schools that are up there sell tickets and all that. Old Dominion fell in the laps of C-USA at the right time to be called up. If VCU added football at the same time as Old Dominion? Who would have been called up to FBS first? VCU.

This database has the athletic department revenues/expenses data that each school is required to report to the federal government.

Sounds like a question you should ask on a Washington State message board. You can find half a dozen of them by asking Google.

Or, you could just wait for someone on this board who has never been within 1,000 miles of there in his life, and couldn't find the place on a map, to answer your question. 07-coffee3

RE: Newest USA Today College Athletic Spending Spreadsheet
I look at ticket sales + donations as a measure of fan support.

It's rare for G5 public schools to have more than $10m in fan support. Aside from several American and MWC schools, I believe Old Dominion is the only FBS team that tops $10m.

It's rare for P5 public schools to have less than $30m. The Pac 12 leads the other leagues by a wide margin in that department.

I have no idea about private schools since they don't report, but I assume it's similar.

WVU continues to do well in the Big 12. Third in revenue in the league and doing better than most of our ACC brethren

Yeah, I spent the better part of a year in the Seattle area, but I have no idea where Washington State is... Is it near Idaho?

There is something odd about the gap between revenue and expenses at WVU. Most other schools showing 20million "profit" have much higher budgets overall.

I think a lot of schools have donations go to foundations then the foundation releases only the money needed to the school. That is why so many are nearly identical on revenue/expense.

Louisville #21 in The Country / #2 in The ACC before football stadium expansion that adds 10,000 additional seats, plus 1,000 club seats, 65 premium loge-level boxes and 10 field-level suites like Jerry's World.

The ACC has been a financial bonanza for UofL. We make more money than every program in The PAC, every program in The Big 12 except Texas and Oklahoma. We would place 8th in The Big 10 and 11th in The SEC.

Not to shabby but we can do better.

historically WVU has always been in the black or extremely close to it. I'm assuming the huge bump in revenue comes mostly from TV money. Things are going very well at WVU right now.
