... yes, these two ^^^ Houston eateries are good but I won't name them the two best here in Houston, IMHO

Houston has so many great restaurants, I couldn't even come up with a top 5 list.

What say you... Can you come up with a top two best eateries in your city... If so, can you name them?!?

Signs your athletic program might be in trouble: 1) You finally make it into Sports Illustrated and all they mention is your city's great dining options.

I love Mia's but haven't hit up the other two. My last trip to Dallas was to visit my friend's new place in Deep Ellum (Easy Sliders) and to attend Morrissey at the Majestic. The Joule was nice.

Also- cool that BB's got a shout out. That place is owned by a UH grad. There are now 7 of them with 2 more on the way. The owner ran track at UH and was a basketball walk-on. His sister also ran track at UH and his brother was a QB on the football team. His Dad also played football for UH. A really down-to-earth and fun family that LOVES UH.

I've been told a number of times Yukata is the place to eat... Need to definitely try it.

In no particular order

HOUSTON
1. Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse
2. Lupe Tortilla's Mexican Restaurant
3. Local Pours River Oaks
4. Peli Peli Galleria
5. Ninfas Mexican Restaurant
6. Houston's

I'm sure others from Houston can list other great Restaurants too.

There are higher rated and more expensive sushi restaurants in the city but Yutaka is great, moderately priced and constant. It's small and doesn't take reservations so be ready for a wait on weekends but it is worth it. Plus, great spots on its block for a drink afterwards - Bowen House (great craft cocktails) and Gingerman (beer and wine only).

Velvet Taco (Knox-Henderson area) is great. Definitely not an authentic taco joint but they do what they do well. Popular late-late night spot.

Curious what you thought of the Majestic? IMO one of the coolest venues in Texas. I was supposed to go to that Morrissey show but missed it. Heard it was great.

I went there after the Temple/SMU game with my best friend who also went to Temple and is from/lives in McKinney :)

It's been a while since we've been on the cover of SI. I don't know if this is the most recent one, but it's a good one...
