First, Purdue acquires Kaplan becoming a major player in on line ed, and now this move! Exciting. These ventures say a lot about our mid western values. Who would have thunk it?

RE: For those proponents of alcohol at Cary Zable
So, this weekend, in Williamsburg, a stone's throw from Cary/Zable, the menu is:
https://www.funhousefest.com/experience
Explain to me again why alcohol is fine for a Williamsburg arts festival, but frowned upon at a W&M athletics event?
Better yet, why is alcohol permitted at an arts festival? Think maybe it has something to do with an attempt to increase attendance?

Beer Garden will certainly increase an alums interest in attending a game who wasnt much of a sports fan during their time in school...so like 75% of alums...
After graduation into adulthood a large chunk of people spend more time following sports...probably just by peer pressure. Advertising adult beverages to young alums is a great way to catch those who were on the fence as students.
You could do trial basis just for homecoming, keep it off to the side by the UC, then gradually incorporate it into the upper deck once the admin realizes its a crowd pleaser with few negatives.

Clearly, any such fans recruited for this reason are not really fans of Tribe sports -- they are actually fans of alcohol.

I wouldn't mind being able to buy beer so I have something to ease the pain of another special teams blunder. I don't think alcohol is going to be a huge revenue generator or turn non-fans into fans.

You are underestimating the desire of many to drink to excess for no reason.

What about the craft breweries that are all the buzz now? Isn't there some sort of nascent wine industry in the commonwealth? Why deny them a chance to build their business? What about all the illegals living in the area? Entice them to join the fun with food trucks and tequila shots!! Diversity rules!!! There could be a serious party going on.

Wake Forest added beer sales for football and basketball games.
I didn't think I would imbibe at the one football games i went to this past season, a victory over the Whoos. But, it was hot and someone was beating UVA, if that wasn't a reason to have a few celebratory drinks, then i don't know what is.
Even if you don't increase attendance. Alcohol sales increase revenue, and the Tribe Athletics could use a few more dollars, or so i have heard.
Plus, beer beats buying cokes at the game to mix with smuggled in liquor.

Well, sure, but I can do that without spending 9 bucks for 6 ounces of beer.

Was at Harbor Park on Sunday. $9.25 for a dang cup of beer. And not even a commemorative cup or anything.

Yikes! I wonder how they calculated the $.25?

It makes you more likely to tip.If you pay with a 10 do you really want to hang on to 3 quarters?

I think you just laid out the business plan for revenue generation. Ask Busch Gardens how Howl-O-Scream goes now that they have bars in every section of the park.

In the second year of selling beer in the stadium, Ohio State saw a $1.35 million net revenue aka profit.
