Who do you think will be Wichita States rival?
Who do you guys see being our new rival? Do you think it will be Tulsa since it is the closest?

I kind of hope Tulsa gets revved up again. That was before my time but it's one everyone always talks about. Plus it's an easy drive which can help fuel it.

Personally, I look forward to Cincinnati and Memphis. Both have had more recent relevance and are former members of The Valley of Death.

RE: Who do you think will be Wichita States rival?
I do think it will be TU for a couple of reasons. First, we have a long history of competition. Secondly is our geographic proximity and neighboring state status of somewhat similarly sized cities. We have a lot in common. To a slightly lesser extent, the other schools in the west who will venture to Wichita on occasion.

From your standpoint its good for the university, but also good for the city of Wichita since the AAC is located in so many large metropolitan areas where the media congregates. An example is ESPN. Their headquarters are in Connecticutt. So they (UCONN) get a lot of local love there. No more trips to dead ends like Carbondale, Terre Haute, Normal etc. You'll be headed to Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Cincy, Philly, Orlando, Tampa, New Orleans, and of course beautiful Tulsa.

All we ask of you is that you keep doing what you've been doing for the last several years. That will help you and us.

RE: Who do you think will be Wichita States rival?
Imho, while AAC schools may dislike each other, the conference doesn't have any real rivalries. Maybe UCF-USF. For some fans, the conference is sort of meh with most schools jockeying for position to be the first ones out which is increasingly not going to happen. Personally I like the AAC and Wichita's enthusiasm for it.

I'm also glad to see enthusiasm for the conference tourney. There hasn't been much of that either and I doubt if the AAC tourney has drawn any more if that much than the MVC tourney. I don't think there were more than 4000 or so for our conference final with SMU v. Cincy.

I definitely think Tulsa will be a good one, as evidenced by the series we just completed. But I think SMU will be the biggest rival due to the level at which they are capable of playing. Ranked teams a short drive from each other? It will get nasty.

Tulsa, Cincy, and SMU. If I had to pick three teams I would predict Shocker fans will love to hate, it would be those three.

Ur mum.

aaaand... SMU. Tulsa's basketball fanbase is dead while SMU's is chirpy coming off a conference championship. Add in Jank and all the potential smack involving the #1 sanctioned NCAA team in history... and SMU-WSU is a powder keg. All it'll take is Speakerphone Boy rolling into Dallas, laying a double-digit beat down on the Ponies, and it's on like Donkey Kong.

SMU isn't just coming off A conference championship, we have won two of the last three conference regular season and tournament championships. And the third year we finished second, one game behind Temple where we got screwed with the schedule because Temple did not have to play us in Dallas. Also, we beat UConn in the conference tournament championship game in Hartford in 2015. A hostile, soldout road game against the defending national champs who needed that game to get into the tourney.

I see this having all the key components to become a nasty rivalry. 6 hour drive to Moody, and WSU travels well. 3K went to Tulsa, I wonder how many will make first trip to Dallas.

Moody only holds 7K with approx 5K being sold season tix. I believe we give 250-500 to the visiting team. I would guess the most you'll be able to get your hands on at 1K. The most opposing fans i can remember at Moody post-reno (2013) is Arkansas in 2014 where they had maybe 750. Cincy brought maybe 500 for the game this last season.

There always seems to be an abundance of fans willing to cash in their tickets when the Shockers come to town. Maybe SMU will be different, but it typically is the Corporate Seat types that would rather take the money and watch on TV, if at all.

The guy I used to share seats with kept the Cincinnati game tickets last year so I had to buy seats and they were less than 100 available on the open market

Wow. Glad I got a possible hookup already. But if his wife makes him take her, I will be looking for tickets also.

Lol, its easy to travel 3K to Tulsa, because they had that many empty seats. Won't be the case at Moody. You will be able to buy tickets, but couldn't imagine more than 600ish opposing fans getting their hands on tickets. The people love the big games and the Shockers will be one of them.

I look forward to making the trip up to Wichita with some college buddies of mine.

A hostile, soldout road game against the defending national champs who needed that game to get into the tourney.

I see this having all the key components to become a nasty rivalry. 6 hour drive to Moody, and WSU travels well. 3K went to Tulsa, I wonder how many will make first trip to Dallas.

Make your plans early, especially if you need more than two. Tickets at the Chuck are just as rare as Moody tickets.

RE: Who do you think will be Wichita States rival?
And the tix available can get pretty pricey. I can only imagine that AAC games will jack those up even more. If I still had my season tickets I could probably turn quite the profit now.
