Jamelle Elliot - should she go
I have never been to a WBB game but if we have to have a WBB team to make liberals Title 9 happy the time has come for her to go. Would we tolerate the below from any other coach? One winning record in 8 years at 16-14 but still only 7-9 in conference.

(Big East) (2009–2013) Overall - Conference
2009-10 Cincinnati 12–18 4–12 14th
2010-11 Cincinnati 9–20 2–14 15th
2011-12 Cincinnati 16–16 6–10 T-10th WNIT Second Round
2012-13 Cincinnati 12–18 4–12 13th
(American Athletic Conference) (2013–2014)
2013-14 Cincinnati 13–18 5–13 8th
2014-15 Cincinnati 8–23 4–14 9th
2015-16 Cincinnati 8–22 4–14 9th
2016-17 Cincinnati 16–14 7-9 5th
Cincinnati: 94–149 (.387) 36–98 (.269)
Total: 94–149 (.387)

If you had told me she was fired last year, I'd have believed you.

How many more people would come if the record improved?

RE: Jamelle Elliot - should she go
Iirc her contract is up at the end of this season. Would not be surprised to see UC not renew her contract .

RE: Jamelle Elliot - should she go
The team's performance appears to have improved albeit slowly during her tenure finishing 5th this past year. If she improves on the 5th place finish this year with fourth or better I'd keep her on and give her a contract extension just long enough to not be a problem with recruiting.

If the team finishes poorer than 5th, she should go. No one can argue she wasn't given plenty of time to proove herself.

If the UC women's bball team somehow became as good as the UConn women's team... I may go to one or two games a year

Jamelle Elliot - should she go
Barring a tournament run, she should be gone as soon as her contract is up.

If she goes, there will be trouble...

(Apologies to "The Clash")

At this point the University may be worried about the optics of a very white coaching staff elsewhere.

You make a great point Jerry. If they fire Elliot, the fishwrap will be all over it with the race card. For a similar precedent, please see the ridiculous BB&T article, claiming it was "unfair" that the women's team didn't go there too.

I'm on board with keeping her as she takes care of two quotas that to need filled. Truth be told, I could care less of they are good or not. So if she can keep the liberals off our necks for other sports she is doing her job.

:/ Really? That's petty... and stupid.

She still has a job for two obvious reasons.

Actually I think if you count head coaches and assistants we have one of the most diverse coaching groups in the country. One of the publications tracks this and UC has been at the top of the list several years in a row.

As for the fishwrap, one of their writers will always find something to be outraged about. No need holding up progress for them.

I've heard it as "Sweater Puppies".

I think if it was a matter of public uproar or lost revenue from not having the maximum potential tickets purchased to watch the women's basketball team, she probably would have been shown the door a while ago.

RE: Jamelle Elliot - should she go
One of the strikes against us in conference reallignment was how awful our non-revenue sports were.

In the 2010-11 NACDA Director's Cup:
34 - Louisville
40 - West Virginia
44 - UConn
53 - TCU
61 - Syracuse
100 - Butler
114 - Creighton
123 - Pitt
150 - Cincinnati (tied with Eastern Washington, Marist, SC State, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Xavier)

FWIW, we finished 83rd this year. That's quite an improvement over where we were just a few years ago. We've actually finished second in the AAC (Tulsa was tops at 68).
