Again -- what benefit does Bradley gain by playing at Chicago St?

recuriting Chicago talent
being in Chicago
allumnia meetings in Chicago
educational oppert in Chicago
short road trip
Chicago B-5, would help all the schools in Chicago & state

Everything you just said is fulfilled exactly the same by playing Loyola.

Additionally:
Terrible team (Chi St)
Very low attendance
Scary neighborhood - would not advise Bradley fans to visit
Do they recruit any players out of S Chicago?

All parking ($5) is in front of the arena (supershort walk) and gated and monitored by campus police. Only a fence separates the parking lot and Interstate. So the neighborhood's a non-factor.

I'm guessing Bradley agreed to (a) help out a state school & (b) another game in Chicago for alumni/recruiting that'll basically be a virtual home game anyway. If their game at Loyola is on a weeknight where exposure is minimal, it makes sense to schedule @ChiSt on a weekend.

How big is the gated, monitored lot on campus? Enough for 5k Bradley alum in the area?

Bradley is a private school, not a public school, and doubt they've been in a conference with Chi St any time recently if ever. Don't see why they care at all about helping out Chi St.


What about UIC? Or DePaul?

Google and Google Maps are wonderful. Street view shows there are only two ways onto campus via car. Have to pass a guard/gate on both to get in.

Bradley played @EIU last year who's in the same boat as Chicago St. Except EIU plays in one of the most dead college towns in the country and offers zero alumni/recruiting/exposure/rpi incentive. It could be Bradley is being generous because that's the only way to explain those 2 road games for a program #1 in the MVC for expenditures and attendance.

Over the past five years Chicago State has had home games against the following:

Southern Illinois
SIUE
DePaul (twice)
Valpo
Eastern Illinois
Loyola (IL)
Western Illinois
Nebraska-Omaha
Green Bay

These schools played at Chicago State. I don't see why Bradley shouldn't.

Obviously it's a bit uncertain at this point, but there may be a return game by CSU at some point in the future that keeps each side from having to buy a game.

If you go to a game at Chicago State, you would park on campus next to the Arena. There is parking on campus. The campus is in a residential neighborhood and has campus police just like any other University. Come on. Let's stop with those kinds of comments...and the transparent code phrases: "real south Chicago" = crime infested neighborhoods where the blacks live; "gentrified areas around U of Chicago"= safe neighborhoods where the whites live. Damn!

Yeah, you'd think you were in Baghdad circa 2008 with the way that comment was made. Granted, Chicago has had a ridiculously high murder rate in the last few years. And even UH has had trouble with car break-in's over the years though not recently as far as I know.

But as with anything in life, you take your chances, use common sense, etc...

That thing should have been built in Houston for UH. It'd go to better use.

I've been to the U of Chicago not too long ago and felt completely safe walking around Hyde Park area. You can complain all you want, but the facts support south Chicago being one of the highest murder rates in the world.

Takes two to tango. Just because someone is close enough to schedule doesn't mean you can find reciprocal interest in playing, mutual dates, or mutually agreeable terms.

Of course. But that doesn't mean their hands were forced in any sense, or that I have to agree with the voluntary decision.

Who says their hand was forced. No one suggested that. They have a budget to meet and a program to run and made their choices accordingly.

The voluntary decision by Bradley to schedule a H/H with Chicago St starting in 2015-16 may or may not have anything to do with its budget.

That's a good arena even for a major who doesn't emphasize basketball. Sometimes, it's not about the size...the way it's built can make the place quite menacing; if Chicago State was a good program with a supportive fanbase, they'd be on top of you.

The only thing I know about CSU is, they seem to be very poor. If you are very poor you don't spend money on extraneous expenses, like Div. 1 athletics. If you are very poor you focus on academics and stuff like paying the light bill. To sum it up, Very poor no Div. 1 athletics. That is all.
