Cincinnati's Mick Cronin. One of college basketball's most underrated coaches, and an in-state option. Cronin, 45, has guided Cincinnati to seven consecutive NCAA Tournaments. His teams are always very good on defense. Cronin nearly left Cincinnati to coach UNLV in 2016. He has a top-25 team coming back next year, but Ohio State is unquestionably a jump up from what he has now. Smith specifically cited Matta's lack of success in recruiting as the reason for making this change, so the next coach would have to be a proven recruiter. Cronin has won while, for the most part, bringing in top 75-175 guys.
Wichita State's Gregg Marshall. A top-30 job has opened, meaning Marshall's name must, by law, be brought up. It's important to keep in mind that Marshall makes north of $3 million already. So what's going to get him to leave? A high-level job that will pay him even more. Remains to be seen if Ohio State will do that. If it does, it could make Marshall think long and hard. Wichita State returns basically everybody off a team that went 31-5 last season. Next season's Shockers could be the best in school history. Wichita State is now in the American Athletic Conference. Could he walk away from that to rebuild Ohio State? Marshall is 54 years old.
So I guess if Ohio State is a top 30 job. UC must therefore be what a top 50 , top 75 job ?

If we are looking from a historical perspective, we are in the 25-35 range right now. If this question was asked in 2000-2001 we were higher in this list but we are a program that hasn't been to a final four since 1992 or to an Elite Eight in 21 years.
Despite OSU's slide the past couple of seasons, they have an NCAA tournament runner up, a couple final fours and three elite eights just in the past decade.

Insider says OSU wish list includes:
Brad Stevens, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, Sean Miller & Billy Donovan.
Why in the heck would Miller leave freaking Arizona where he has everything he could possibly need.
Money....money is the answer
I would imagine Arizona would pay whatever to keep him. Plus he is king there as the football team is historically hit or miss, and you get to live in Arizona!

Well, OSU's revenue is literally double that of Arizona...so...lol
Hey guys. Can we be a bit more sensitive to the multiple threads about UK? They're getting upset about the lack of attention due to the renewed obsession with the Buckeyes.
The bucknuts speculation is that they already have an A list guy lined up and ready to take the job. Apparently, no search committee will be formed, and no outside firm hired. It literally has to be the only explanation for giving Matta a vote of confidence at the end of the season and then turning around and parting ways with him in June. If they're not holding an ace in their hand and are about to conduct a coaching search out of the blue in the middle of the Summer, this has the makings of a world class debacle.

Love seeing them in turmoil, and recruiting shaky..
There is one BB power in the State,,UC Bearcats
Is this Sarcasm? Gene Smith is running one of the most influential and dominant athletic departments in the country. Ohio State is winning what seems to be multiple national titles every year. Why would he need to go?

I actually believe that. I'm not sure how A list the guy is, but I believe that already have a name they're happy with.
