They also took 2/3 at Vandy earlier this year. Literally the worst case scenario for us.

If we can win our regional there is a very good chance we would host Rice with the way they have been playing.

They're not beating LSU.

If you didn't see the commentary, the ESPN crew was pushing for all 16 hosts be seeded and not just 1-8. The one guy said us barely missing the top 8 and being paired with a 4 (LSU) isn't right.

i agree. only makes sense to seed 16. def got the screw job matched with LSU but knew that was going to happen. actually fine by me. i can see the game easier if we make it there.

south alabama scares me more than MSU. we always have trouble with them. UIC prob won't be a picnic. we have a good enough team to win this thing though. if not, we don't deserve to make it to a SR.

UIC is a really good #4. This regional is ridiculous.

Think you gotta go with McCarty on Friday, unfortunately. Braley game #2, Smith game #3. Roberts if needed in a game #4.

McCarty against UIC, no doubt.

Facing a lefty too.

Going to have to play good baseball to get past that one.

Any guesses how many they will actually allow in The Pete?

I suspect that we may find out soon.

Under 6000, per Kent Hegenauer.

I think it's smart. There is no difference in the number of games you have to play if you lose either game 1 or 2. Play the match ups that give you the best chance to win the first 2. Then go from there.

that worked out really swell in the heat sink at MGM park in games 1 that led to Smith starting 6.....sigh

for example, let's say McCarty tosses 25-30 pitches and gets racked for some reason in game 1....there's no reason you couldn't bring in Smith or Braley and use McCarty in game 3 or 4 as req'd....

if I had my druthers, I go McCarty/Braley/Smith right now using JCK/Sandlin in mid/late relief and the others as req'd....

to add: if our bats don't heat back up, it won't matter who pitches which game....with the exception of a few, we're in a slummmmmp at the plate at the wrong time of the year....

if he makes the move to not pitch McCarty Friday (which I think would be a mistake), I would go with Braley before Smith....for whatever reason, Smith's fastball doesn't seem to be falling under the bats like it was a few weeks ago

Think we're shooting for the fences a bit too often....Rice shows ya how you single folks to death, move runners over and generally squeeze out runs.....Now, we ain't that kinda team, but you're not gonna have that big 9-run inning every night, especially when leadoff hitter and others are slumping..

Easy to find flaws, however....every team has some....and hopefully we break out of it this weekend
