Damn. We get to host tourney and now this. I am told no teams will be sent home. A redone single elimination tourney is a possibility especially if tomorrow is washed out. We are good Thursday through Sunday with weather

A single elimination tournament would kinda suck but understand why they'd do it. It's a choice between bad and not good.

Single elimination if that is the decision -- play in games Thur. 4 quarterfinals Fri semis Sat Champ game Sunday. This is not good but I was told today if tomorrow is all washed out it is a distinct possibility

Been a distinct possibility for a while. If you don't want it to happen, you either need to hope the Sun Belt can find an acceptable 2nd site, or that the weather calms enough to allow 2 games to be played tomorrow.

RE: Sun Belt Baseball Tournament thread
Update from the Sun Belt:

Conference and Georgia Southern Officials will meet tomorrow morning to discuss the field conditions and come up with a schedule for the remainder of the tournament. The Conference remains committed to maintaining the Double Elimination format, but acknowledges that multiple sites may need to be used to keep the Double Elimination format viable.

The Conference remains committed to try and play as many games as possible tomorrow, but no game can start before 10am ET. No further updates will be provided until tomorrow morning.

I don't know. Hour by hour is still miserable. Rain starting about 9am, and not really letting up. Coverage may not be as big though, so there might be breaks to get something in.

SEC dodged enough showers today in Hoover to play 3 games.

If you can get the two preliminary round games in today, there are no issues. You just compress the tournament. It wasn't that long ago we were crowning a champion on Saturday.

The problem is what happens if there are no games today.

You could do it this way.

7/10 and 8/9 off site at 9 and 1230

3/6 and 4/5 on site at 9 and 1230

7/10 winner vs. UTA at 4:00

8/9 winner vs. CCU at 7:30

Now you're back on track

RE: Sun Belt Baseball Tournament thread
STATESBORO, GA. - Sun Belt Conference and Georgia Southern officials met on Wednesday morning to evaluate the field conditions at the facility. After further evaluation, no games will be played before 12 p.m. ET, at which time, games will be played at both Georgia Southern and Mill Creek Regional Park, in Statesboro.

Due to the elimination games being played on the same day as our other games, and because the championship will be at two sites, the 4v5 and the 3v6 games will be moved ahead of the 1vTBD and 2vTBD games to allow for a possible change of venue for teams coming out of the day's first game.

Therefore, the Sun Belt has adjusted the tournament schedule to the following:

12:00 p.m. ET - #10 Georgia State vs. #7 Arkansas State - J.I. Clements Stadium at Jack Stallings Field
12:00 p.m. ET - #9 Little Rock vs. #8 Texas State - Mill Creek Regional Park

3:30 p.m. ET - #5 Georgia Southern vs. #4 Louisiana - J.I. Clements Stadium at Jack Stallings Field
3:30 p.m. ET - #6 Troy vs. #3 South Alabama - Mill Creek Regional Park

7:00 p.m. ET - #1 Coastal Carolina vs. TBD
7:00 p.m. ET - #2 UTA vs. TBD

What are the dimensions of the field the SBC will use at Mill Creek? This is what I could find quickly - "Minimum 200 ‘ outfield fences". May be a lot of homers.

Edit - I see the adult softball fields have minimum 300' fences but still that is pretty short for DI baseball.

Downside of Mill Creek is there's no gate to take tickets. I wonder if they will try to restrict attendance to people with tickets.

Doubt you'd find much of a crowd involving the teams at Mill Creek. LR and Texas State won't bring as many fans as USA and Troy due to length of travel. Generally, from what I've noticed from past experiences at Tigue Moore, visiting fans show up in greater numbers after they see their team win their first game on Wednesday.

I believe someone on our board said at least one of them has a fence at about the same distance as what was previously at Clements.

If you do a Google maps search for Mill Creek Regional Park you can see an overhead shot of three clusters of fields. The field they would play on is in the right cluster, bottom side (around where the 5 would be on a clock). It's setup with the right field configuration (not softball) and is a suitable park (IMO) to avoid the logistical mess of transporting teams back and forth an hour+ away from Statesboro.

I just hope they can get some games in today.

Using google maps measurement tool.

The Mill Creek field is 325 down the lines, ~365 to the gaps, and 373 to center.

Which is very similar to JI.

Measured JI using googles measurement tool to check the accuracy and it was +/- 5 ft of the listed dimensions on GS site.
