Also, calling it Little Mogadishu isn't a name I coined and isn't a diss, it's a fact.

http://www.twincities.com/2017/02/06/min...from-2015/

Fortune 500 companies in the state:

6: UnitedHealth Group (up from 14; 2016 revenues of $157.1 billion)
38: Target (down from 36, $73.8)
71: Best Buy (up from 72, $39.7)
84: CHS (down from 69, $34.6)
93: 3M (up from 98, $30.3)
131: U.S. Bancorp (up from 138, $21.5)
160: Supervalu (up from 164, $17.8)
161: General Mills (up from 171, $17.6)
206: Ecolab (up from 213, $13.5)
208: C.H. Robinson Worldwide (up from 225, $13.5)
215: Land O’Lakes (down from 203, $13.20)
232: Ameriprise Financial (up from 247, $12.2)
257: Xcel Energy (down from 255, $11)
304: Hormel Foods (up from 310, $9.3)
316: Mosaic (up from 320, $8.9)
318: Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (up from 333, $8.8)
465: St. Jude Medical (up from 466, $5.5)

As to Best Buy, they will be fine because they have been smart about their business. I worked in their corporate office for a couple of years and you would be amazed at how aware they are the old models don't work.

Their online business is huge, more so than the stores, and they have integrated in such a way to turn all their stores into mini warehouses to shorten the delivery and return times.

That wasn't the argument. You said another poster's statement that wealthy people were leaving the state was false. You were wrong and refuse to admit that, instead trying to somehow extrude that because population in increasing and employment is up, that wealthy individuals are not leaving the state.

Pathetic.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the suburbs .... if you think ketchup on store bought noodles is "pasta".

Just very bland, very boring. All the houses look the same. Only big box stores and chain restaurants. Bleh

The suburbs don't have taxes or public services? Obviously a false statement

Yes, but they have a shortage of mammaries for the snowflakes to suck on. Which is why you will find the snowflakes densely populated into the places where they can find a teet easily, such as the inner cities.

There's nothing wrong with the cities .... If you like think high crime rates and piss poor schools are a sign of sophistication.

Just very violent, very backwards. All the schools suck. Way more crime per capita.

Must be why all those new construction $1M+ homes are constantly being built in SW Minneapolis, and why Southwest High is constantly ranked as one of the best high schools in the state! 03-idea

But yeah, people usually like to build their dream homes in places with high crime and bad schools. 03-rotfl

So in other words, you're lying.

Right, because the existence of an upper class in a sprawling metropolis means that it can't also have high crime and poor schools.

You need to learn how to just admit when you're wrong, because all too often you back yourself into a corner with the strangest arguments.

Where to start ...

- the context of the discussion was inner cities vs suburbs, which are both part of the metro
- obviously high crime and poor schools can exist somewhere in a large metro, simultaneously with wealthy neighborhoods and good schools -- no one said otherwise, because that wasn't the discussion
- Bull's comment was a general comment about Minneapolis city proper (as opposed to living in the suburbs of Mpls), and was a ridiculous, silly comment -- which I smashed to pieces

Anything else?

Did you mean Libertarian or Librarian? I'm neither, and pose as neither, for what it's worth.

Sometimes UoMsU uses the term "libturd" as a lowbrow nickname for Libertarians.

It is worth noting that the history of how suburbs were social engineered into existence is somewhat sordid...

A 'Forgotten History' Of How The U.S. Government Segregated America : NPR
Quote:In 1933, faced with a housing shortage, the federal government began a program explicitly designed to increase — and segregate — America's housing stock. Author Richard Rothstein says the housing programs begun under the New Deal were tantamount to a "state-sponsored system of segregation."

I have argued before that the issues surrounding Black Lives Matter movement are largely a consequence of broken windows policing (generally without arguing whether that is necessary or not, but police shootings and the apparent high proportion of black targets are one cost of that approach). But an extension of that argument is that housing segregation and policies that may have contributed to pockets of high crime areas are a pretty substantial root cause of the issues that we see today. And, the ultimate blame lies not in libertarianism, but the opposite ... Progressive, state-planned social engineering at the hands of the most Progressive government in our nation's history.
