Serious question, do you see Liberty changing their tailgating policy?

Yes, could there be special areas for that. I would assume UVA fans and others in traveling distance would like to drink.

I have no insider knowledge but I doubt it. Maybe some of the local businesses will use that to their advantage but I don't see it happening as a whole.

It is different and common sense prevails. Use cups rather than cans and be wise and realize where one is. What's nice is there are several restaurants at the campus where visiting fans often congregate. One can bet that those commercial businesses will offer "tail gating specials" for visiting fans. The last thing LU wants to do is to bring unfavorable notice to tailgating with visiting fans and the media.

As long as you aren't obnoxious and a knucklhead, there are tons of people tailgating with adult beverages at LU. The biggest component to this would be to act respectful. I don't see any changes anytime soon. We rarely hear opposing fans complain about their tailgate experience in Lynchburg including the few from CCU who actually ever made the drive from Conway.

This is a great first schedule for Liberty. I am very happy with it. Things are looking very good for us. There appear to be no issues ir stigmas with playing us.

The only bad part is going a month without a home game but that's hard to overcome on this short of a notice. All in all an outstanding job getting the schedule done.

And regarding visiting fans tailgating at LU. Of the home games I attended, William and Mary had the larger traveling fan base with Coastal being second. I did not see the JMU or Richmond game. That really is not a problem LU has had in the past as the Big South Conference had such poor home much less traveling attendance. It's likely a policy being discussed now to be defined.

#UMass' football series with Liberty is four games. Final three dates not finalized yet, announcement pending that per Matt Vautour's column

That fits everything we have heard. Both sides know they will be playing each other but are giving flexibility to fill dates to the other side. And there will obviously be plenty more games with NM State beyond 2019. Once again, flexibility for both parties is in play with an understanding that we expect to be on each other s schedules once the dust clears.

Id love to make a trip up to Amherst/Hadley in the coming years. Combined with a flight into Boston and the HOF in Springfield, that could make a great getaway weekend.

Hi all. Best of luck to you as a new FBS independent and fellow Christian institution!

Excited to see Liberty to complete BYU's 2019 home schedule! Also, look forward to the return trip to Lynchburg in 2022. I am hopeful that Liberty can recruit well and have football success! Nothing better than a good football rivalry...and I'd love for Liberty to improve so that BYU-Liberty can become a bona fide rivalry over the next several years.

Thanks for the kind thought Y. All LU fans are excited and appreciative with the BYU games.

Thanks! I think it would do us both good to have a cross-country rivalry and I hope we can build up to BYU's standards. I have no delusions that we'd turn into your top rival or even that you guys need another rival but hopefully we can develop at minimum an annual game as fellow independents.

Utah and to a certain degree Air Force and Boise State based on my recollections. But Utah remains their clearly defined rival. Not only are they close in proximity, but they recruit students from the same pool. There is a great deal of brother against brother aspects to BYU-Utah. So you can imagine how maddening it was for the Cougars to go passed over by the Big XII while the Utes get invited to the Pac-12.

The Ewetes are clearly BYU's primary rival.

The Dairy Ewetes (Utah St. Aggies) are also a little rival, but no where close to the Ewetes. There is a budding rivalry with the Donkey Ewetes (Boise St.) that has some promise.

In the old WAC days, besides the Ewetes, Hawaii was actually one of BYU's primary rivals. Air Force and other WAC and MWC foes were fun to play against, but didn't reach rivalry status.
