Great start!!! Christy is a special coach. She has improved our softball program by leaps and bounds. Thanks to her parents for all they do also. And to think, softball was almost canned.

Another reason not to bag on Bass. The guy has made quality hire after quality hire. No reason to doubt he can sustain success with numerous sports.

You know my stance. B-Ball is the money maker, and allows sports like this to be successful.

Tell that to Coach Scalf. He doesn't get a red cent that he doesn't raise himself. In fact, during the DePaolo-Mehrtens era, they almost succeeded in taking money FROM baseball to support the other fledgling programs that they were making their best effort to destroy.

And I'm sure Baseball isn't the only program in that boat. That's the life of a non-revenue sport at a mid-major school like us. Basketball is our most VISIBLE sport, but that doesn't mean it necesarilly helps others.

Christy's parents have funded softball more than anything. Which means softball stands more alone than any other sport, including men's basketball, which has been in the negative most years.

That wasn't to imply that other coaches don't take care of business, especially Scalf. Being the most "visible" has huge financial implications. From attendance, to swag purchases to sponsorship. During our down years when the fundraising wasn't there, our other sports felt the burden too, it is what it is.
