This ranking would still have the Vandals in a bowl game with 6-7 wins. I would argue this ranking to be just about right considering we have had FCS level recruiting for the last class. This team will be operating off of fumes to get to the end.

Go Vandals.

Your last class is not likely to have much of an impact this year. If you can plug the holes you have with upperclassmen, you should be fine.

You guys do realize that you took Colorado State to a 41-7 score at one point right? They're favored by some to win the MWC. Can't see the SBC's best offense having a 3-9 season unless his receivers and backs that graduated were just that good and truly special. We'll see, but I have hope for you. The game you have with Troy makes me nervous.

We'll miss the two TEs, but we didn't lose any RBs of note and we're deep at WR. We'll be fine as long as the Oline clicks. We actually didn't recruit any differently either.

They should have just put Joey Freshwater and FAU at #109 and made it an Owl Trifecta.

If this year isn't a huge jump for Texas State, I can't imagine they ever will be under the current guy. if his strategy was to truly play only underclassmen last year, he should have nearly 100% back and take a big leap forward.

A huge jump would be considered being competitive in games against top competition and competing and winning games against similar programs. Probably 4-8 or 5-7. The two years following are the put up or shut up years.

I wouldn't be surprised if our only win this year is the FCS game. Withers said this is year 1 and last year was year zero. He said that since he came in January, he wasn't able to fully recruit last year. Now that he did get a full year, we got the number one recruiting class. I think the team won't see improvement until 2018 and not get bowl eligible until 2019. TXST has been bad over the years but never this bad (in the time I've followed the team). Just trying to stay positive.

So we were in year zero for four straight years?

Nah you didn't get screwed over like we did when Fran left. He left us with little to no underclassmen since he lived and died by juco transfers.

They return 11 starters. They lost McGuire and they don't have a real QB. I don't see The Cajuns with a good season. How is this no respect?

23 teams on the list so far out of 130. 6 Sun Belt members on the list so far.

129. Texas State
127. NMSU
124. Georgia State
115. Coastal Carolina
112. Idaho
108. Louisiana

6 out of the first 23 I call that no respect for the conference.

Ok I get that but what about Cajuns at 108 being no respect? Out of all the teams Idaho Pick was no respect pick. I don't think they're 112 but I also
Don't think Idaho is going to have same magic as last season.

Idaho is the only one on that list I'd go to bat for. The rest have a lot to prove.

Exactly and y'all can bash if you want but IMO ULM will have the same Or more CONFERENCE wins than the Cajuns.

They might be right on with the Cajuns being at 108 but my no resect remark is with how the conference as a whole is being perceived in this ranking. What does it say about the conference when one half of the entire conference is listed in the bottom 20 percent of the rankings.

Well honestly how many of those teams on paper should be ranked higher besides Idaho? CC maybe?
It means those teams are in rebuild mode or they're still don't know what to expect. What does it mean to in your opinion? I think ULM is better than a 110ish ranking but if they put us here I would understand why.

Exactly. Texas State and NMSU being that low can't really be argued. GSU did nothing to impress anyone last season and has a new coach. I give them a pass on Coastal (and UAB) for obvious reasons. Louisiana has a lot of question marks and their win over ARKST isn't enough to inspire confidence.

They're likely going historical with Idaho, so I get it, but the Vandals will end much higher if I were a betting man.

I don't sweat these preseason rankings very much because I know they're based on reputation and I understand one season won't erase 15 mostly bad years. But it will be fun once again to prove them wrong.

Troy was as high as 29th in the Massey's this year, and ended the season at 46th. Not too shabby. We'll likely be in the 80's or 90's on here.

Bill Connelly's S&P+ for 2017 is just as bad for the league:

Even worse 8 in the bottom 23 instead of just 6 conference teams.

7 of our 2017 opponents have already been featured on the list. Come on, Sun Belt, us "FCS call ups" are really pulling the weight here.
