FBS here we come!
I want to play ODU during rivalry week, the same time frame that VT plays UVa. Not at the same time, but either the game prior or after that game, or maybe the night before or night after. The VA schools should do this.

Just who is ODU's biggest FB rival at the present?

They would like for it to be ECU.

I think it is Charlotte and Marshall but anyone else can correct me. It would be great if it were us. How well did we fill up their stadium back when we played them several years ago? Did we bring enough interest that they'd want to keep scheduling us? As an independent, we have to be mindful of those things so that others will want to play us and fill our 12 game schedule.

Off the top of my head I'd say their biggest rivals now are Marshall and WKU.

We can easily fill that role in a couple years.

I have read many of the post on the ODU board and they really don't seem to have a true rival at present. It's to be understood with the newness of their program plus CUSA has not been wise with scheduling to help create one.

Yep, I read the same post on the ODU board. I think they'd like to establish ECU as a rival, and that makes sense. Charlotte seems to be most likely in their opinion. Interesting comment was made about us, stating that we "are a team in Virginia, not a Virginia team." There is actually truth to that statement. It was a reason given why ODU/LU may not become a rivalry. I still believe, and hope, that a great rivalry is started with ODU. But again, for that to be the case we need to start building bridges and playing them in all our sports. I still want to carry on the Coastal rivalry as well. This would have been a great season to face them in baseball.

Guessing your 2018 schedule will be release in a month. We had a facebook video with our AD Ryan Bamford. He mention this in 2018 will have one or two changes with one being not having three away games in a row. Also said that 2019 will be completed soon with one or two openings left.

What are you guys hearing.

What bites is that LU is not releasing any until the schedule is complete. I hope UMass is in the mix.

Must be hard and not to clear why the brass is running the show in this manner. You'd think if people are shy about scheduling Liberty, it would help pull them over the fence to see who else has already done so. My only guess is for negotiation reasons as if team A is getting X to travel to Liberty, Team B would demand the same.

Also after re-listening to the video need to make a few corrections. 2018 is complete, 2019 should be complete in the next month and 2020 complete in the fall.

I am sure part of it has to do with not wanting to tip off other folks with whom your negotiating from a bargaining perspective. But that is purely a guess on my part.

I get it. But at times not everyone on the board does.

I'd like to play UMass regularly. We are both in need of stability and can provide each other with a de facto rivalry game. It may not be significant to either fan base at first but perhaps it could develop.
