Seems like a good hire. My only question would be, "Does he know how to hire and retain good coaches?"

Thoughts?
Could go one of two directions --
Direction "A" - Great hire for BC. Hopefully they can rediscover men's basketball (hire Al Skinner, maybe?)
Direction "B" - reasons why BC will be a B1G member by 2020.
It's now the offseason, so my money is on "B".

UCONN would be happy as they would take their place.

RE: Boston College hires Ohio State's Martin Jarmond as athletic director
So far, there's a lot of excitement and hope within the BC fanbase. This is an out-of-the-box hire; we weren't expecting it. He's young, he's hungry, and he's been exposed to success at the highest level.
We're hoping this signals the BC administration realizes change is needed. The college sports landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade; the BC admin has been very slow to react to these changes.
There will be many challenges for Jarmond. A private school like BC is very different from a huge state institution like Ohio State. I'm sure getting things done in Boston (getting construction approvals, building new facilities, obtaining permits to allow more than a few hours of tailgating, etc.) is much more challenging than at OSU. But, we'll think about challenges another day; for now, I'm very optimistic.

UCONN would need an invitation first, Lenville. List the 12 schools that would vote "yes"...
Good luck with that.

If BC went to the Big Ten, IMO Cincinnati would get the next invitation.

Who would the candidates be? Cincinnati, UCONN & Houston?
I personally would be ecstatic with Cincinnati.

RE: Boston College hires Ohio State's Martin Jarmond as athletic director
Boston College would never leave the ACC for the BiG, IMO. The simple fact is that BC's profile is MUCH more aligned with the ACC than it ever would be in the BiG. Make no mistake, this is VERY important to BC.
As a BC fans, we are excited! The school has committed over $200M to facilities upgrades. All of them have been approved. The new baseball and softball facilities are under construction and the new football indoor practice and weight training facility wil begin construction in late May, once the current baseball season is over. The new Student Recreation Center is now under construction and should be a positive for many of BC's Olympic sports.
The new AD hire is a home run and totally out-of-the-box for BC. He will be the youngest AD and is considered one of the best up-and-coming college sports executives in the country. Played a huge role in fundraising, football, and BB, at The Ohio State.
Even if he moves on to a bigger job in 5-6 years or so, it would mean that he would have elevated BC to where we should be. No downside for anybody, IMO.

I don't think it will work, but I wish BC the best.
I care about BC games against us more than any other ACC team, and I'd love to see them juiced w/ a good team on the other side of the "v"

I would be okay with Cincinnati if BC left. Decent academics, decent football and good basketball.

University of Cincinnati's ranking in the 2017 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, 135.

bc-uc swap would alter the original character: a southern, coastal, well-rounded league priding itself on academic glory ...
in particular, won't sit well with University of Miami admissions who rely on nor'easters to replenish the earth ...

I prefer keeping BC and adding Cincinnati as football team #16 (with the part time team going all in as #15).
