........want a G5 playoff.

They can say anything when they don't name names. That's an agenda that just doesn't have any support. The ones that support it are trying to get clicks.

On the other hand, plenty of people are coming out against it and they're putting their name to it.

I won't even read anything relating to that. You want a playoff? Be top 4 or move down to FCS. The rest of us are dreaming for the top 4.

I don't see anything about the American. Just says more G5's want it but won't come public. I am sure the sunbelt is all over it.

I honestly think that the MWC and CUSA will revive the alliance concept at some point with perhaps an interleague "playoff" becoming their signature endgame.

I would be in favor of the G5 playoff if the regular playoffs were staying at 4 teams but every indication is that it will be 8 soon and guarantee a spot for the top G5 team. If it were to stay at 4 I'd imagine it would be about once in 20 years a G5 makes the playoff because you need every star in the sky to align.

RE: McMurphy implies some in the American......
Dumbest idea ever. Its the same teams that cant get good bowls, that the TV networks say are "worthless and supposedly "don't draw any national interest". So---who exactly is going to pay 100-200 million a year (which is two to four times the value of the entire regular season) for a handful of games that would be non-descript low end bowls without the playoff. Basically, these games are supposed to go from worthless to 200 million by adding the word "playoff"? Gimme a break. If these games between G5 champs had that much value---there would already be networks and bowls paying big dollars to lock in those match ups.

Nobody in the AAC thinks this is a good idea. Let the G4 have it. They can take our slot and give it to a "wildcard team". We'll take the access bowl in the real CFP and call it a day.

I also love that some of these people are pounding a drum that "television" will immediately pony up $65million for three games that will get MAYBE 10million viewers....and then turn around and you it's unpossible that the AAC contract could get $65million a year ($5M per the team) for 72 games that have a proven track record of 45 million viewers. Agenda much?

If they want their champions to meet in a bowl game, they have all the power in the world to do that. But insinuating that their champs meet for chance at a NY6 bowl isn't going to happen, because that would be considered a playoff.

Aresco has never had any interest of even being associated with those other groups. He actually seems somewhat repulsed when one of those conferences gets mentioned. Like it leaves a bad taste in his mouth. He doesn't like start-ups and I don't think he has any intention of working with Boise again.

I think the Alliance is where the playoff talk has traction and they can easily incorporate the newer CUSA teams.

I think that a playoff is inevitable, why?, because all the powers to be that are pushing the p5 agenda will find a way to fully exclude everybody else from their championship
Yes I know they pretty much have anyway, so what's left for them to do?
I was watching espn today, they were showing a competition of college players going in the draft and when they would highlight a players school of only being from a p5, but when there were players from G5 they labled that player as " wild card" and would not indicate their conference
I think NFL teams can see past this stupid BS

I don't really see that as a sign of anything. For years the preview mags would do the same thing (before "P5" ever was invented). Pre-80s. Only it was the independents who were "Wild Cards".

RE: McMurphy implies some in the American......
Again folks----Right now we receive around 90 million from the CFP and a guaranteed slot in the access bowl. In the previous system, non-powers conferences received 28 million and got a slot in a BCS bowl ONLY when their teams performance exceeded a certain ranking. Many years, no G5 teams participated. Prior to that---G5 teams were essentially left with no access to the big BCS Bowls---though they did get a small slice of the pie. Basically, every new BCS/CFP agreement has resulted in more access for the G5 and more money. Let the G4 go do a playoff if they want, we'll stick with the only college postseason anybody cares about.
