I surmise the reason the Ncaa chooses the tournament winner is because of simplicity and added drama to the process. Who would watch the conference tournaments if the bid was not at stake. With the bid attached to the tournament, they can soak John sports fan for an additional week. The Houston analogy makes no sense.
Well....except the American agrees with me. Because if you go to the 15-16 conference champions schedule:
http://theamerican.org/sports/2015/6/1/c...e2015.aspx
...UConn is listed as the conference champion in Men's Basketball, for some strange reason. Also, you go to the conference's all-time championship ledger:
http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/th...mpions.pdf
...and Cincy's given credit for no championships in 2014. Incidentally, UConn's listed there again in basketball for last year, and Louisville in 14. So there's that.
"Note: Charts reflect winners of the conference’s annual postseason championship,"
You miss that part? Both pages you linked to show the same thing, postseason championships, which are specifically spelled out for you.
Yea, because the postseason is how they determine the championship, except in the instances where the sport in question doesn't have a postseason, which is why there's three football champions for 14-15. Take it up with the conference if you don't like how they determine champions. Maybe Cincy will win their first next year.
So weird...Hmmmmmm:
http://theamerican.org/sports/2013/6/22/...aspx?id=3&
Cincy looks pretty clearly listed under the regular season champion.
Maybe UConn can finish higher than 4th next year in the conference for the first time ever.
Nobody's arguing whether Cincy got a consolation trophy that year, but Louisville won the tournament and got the AQ bid as the conference champion. Tourney winner gets the AQ, AQ goes to the conference champion.

Old news, but I didn't see it posted.
Semi Ojeleye will declare for the NBA, but he won't hire an agent. Rumors around SMU circles are that he will return.

Ollie appears to have the ability to sink this ship as fast as he won a 'ship. This is becoming comical at this point.

This conference need UConn to be great, but oh my, was it satisfying to smack them around 3 times this year....
If Ollie doesn't make the tourney this year, have to figure he is gone.

Nice! He's also a USF alum with tons of ties.
I love the assistants we're getting in this conference. I'm curious to see the recruits UConn lands with their new assistant.

UConn's Jalen Adams will NOT test the NBA waters, source told ESPN. Will be back in Storrs next season.

Houston got a commit today from Ced Alley, a 1st Team All-Greater Houston forward.
Chose UH over A&M, Tech and others.

Bold strategy to ask your only returning big man to leave. I predict Ollie will be shown the door after this year.

Can Lebo use that same door?
ECU only has two big players on the entire roster, but one (Deng Riak) has decided to transfer.
