Not sure how much of a funk it was vs playing your best competition so far the last two weekends. Teams tend to look worse against better competition. That doesn't mean they hit a slump.

Unfortunate that Tech had to open up conference play with USM and at Charlotte to start off. Fully expect them to roll for a while.

I would chalk up SFA to the "hangover" from the USM weekend. Kind of same way of "how do explain" USM beating Columbia 4-3 one day and then the next beating them 20-5......it's just how baseball works sometimes. Almost all good/great teams go through a rough 7-10 game patch but it's how you recover afterwards. With the way you guys started the season there's no reason IMO you can't get on another streak like that and these past 2 weeks will just be a bump in the road.

LSU just lost to a God-awful Tulane team. They've also lost to UNO and McNeese midweek.

It is midweek--much less on the road. Good luck trying to explain every score that happens on Tuesday or Wednesday.

USM leads 3-1 after 4 complete.

New Orleans tied it at 3 in the top of the 7th but USM answers back with a solo HR to go up 4-3. USM has scored its 4 runs all via the HR and both with 2 outs.... 3 run shot by the #8 man and the solo by our #9 hitter.

USM has added on 2 more runs in the 7th on back to back doubles followed by a single. Now up 6-3 and still batting with 2 outs in the 7th.

Top of the 9th. ODU add on 2 more to make the score 11-6 Monarchs. W&M make a pitching change but then decide that's not enough so they turn the sprinklers on. Game on delay.

USM gets the 8-4 win. USM used 4 pitchers tonight who had combined to pitch 22 innings in 21 combined appearances so a true team effort.

USM improves to 15-2 at home this year and combined with last year's 28-4 home record, USM has now gone 43-6 at home the last 2 seasons.

USM has won 12 of its last 13 overall as well as 13 of its last 15 overall. Hopefully we can keep this going at WKU this weekend.
