Maybe GCU should have partaken in either the CIT or CBI this year? They finished on a high at Bakersfield.

RE: Wac post season thread
Would have been more visibility, but honestly not sure players would've been into it enough to represent well. They finished strong, but mantra from Day 1 of 2016-17 season was WAC Championship. So much so that I know more than one Aggie fan who grew tired of it. Heck, I grew tired of it, too.

That said, I think once WAC title was off the table, everything else seemed hollow to players & fans.

Did anybody see Justin Pride drive his shoulder through that guy's face last night? Adding insult to injury, the opposing player got the foul. To be fair to Pride, the CO ST player was out of position and there was going to be a collision/foul called. It was just crazy to see that rather try and avoid the contact, slow-mo looked like Pride coiled and exploded up through the poor kid's chin. Man, I wish I could find that clip somewhere.

Yah, there was also the time he kneed someone as well, going for the ball, incidental. Not sure it was Pride on that one though.

Currently mobile....but not necessarily upwardly.

Pride is a joke for a basketball player. I don't think I've ever seen him make a basket, just foul the hell out of everyone. Don't get me started on that ridiculous free throw shot he has.

Its a modified shot he developed last year or during summer. I believe announcers last night said it has improved his FT %. Something about it halping him to feel more comfortable, IIRC.

Excerpt from last season on CSUB MBB webside. And, no mention of how many of those 22 FTs made.

"....led ‘Runners in assists ten times and was third on team with 92 assists…averaged 3.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game…recorded CSUB Division I single-game record 12 assists in WAC semifinal vs. Seattle U…scored season-high 16 points vs. Utah Valley Feb. 13 while resetting CSUB all-time record with 22 free throws attempted in single game."

If it was only 16 points but he had 22 FT attempts, I can tell you % probably wasn't great.

UPDATE: Found the box score... 8-22. Dude shot 36.4% FT that night. As a team, Runners shot 49 FTs. Yikes.

Also, not sure I'd say his FT% has improved all that much. Shot .578 last season & .600 this year. That's a little more than 2 additional makes over 100 FT attempts. Better? I guess. Significantly so? Nope.

Bakersfield will take a step back next year. I doubt they finish in the top 4. It will be NMSU, GCU, and Utah Valley at the top of the conference next year.

RE: Wac post season thread
There are still more recruits and transfers to be signed across the WAC...however, looking into next season at the moment, this is my projected conference standings...

1. New Mexico State - Weir needs to add little more inside depth and possibly a backup point guard
2. Grand Canyon - Majerle needs to sign or develop a replacement for Dewayne Russell and continue to upgrade his roster.
3. Utah Valley - Pope needs to develop team chemistry and develop a better defense amongst his varying levels of talent.
4. Cal State Bakersfield - Barnes needs to recruit to replenish his depth after some key senior departures.
5. UM Kansas City - Richardson needs to find a new team leader after Boyds departure and continue to upgrade his team's overall talent.
6. UT Rio Grande Valley - Hill is in the process of recruiting his type of players to fit his system. A three to four year process.
7. Seattle U. - The new coach must evaluate his team's talent and recruit needs as he will need time to molds a style.
8. Chicago State - Dildy needs to sign best players he can find with limited resources just to stay competitive.

I agree on all analysis, but Id move UMKC down to 7. After losing Boyd I dont see who is talented enough to keep them higher than 7. With Seattle, with the same talent as last year and Nate Pryor I'd have them at 4 or 5, darkhorse for 3. But with likely impending transfers, a new coach, and likely losing Pryor, the 6-7 range like where they should be right now.

UTRGV intrigues me. Such a young team like Seattle U, but didnt lose coach and wont lose many players. Add Terry Winn the UTEP transfer too. I think UTRGV could be as high as 3 this season but no lower than 5.

NMSU and GCU are clear cut 1-2, but 3-5 could be in any order.

Right now, I'd have the WAC at:

1. New Mexico State
2. Grand Canyon
3. CS Bakersfield
4. Utah Valley
5. UTRGV
6. Seattle U
7. UMKC
8. Chicago State

Its hard to tell who will be playing for the Roos, but I thought they would finish 6th or 7th after Martez left. Kareem can coach.

I would say that Majerle has found his replacement in Milstead, but he definitely needs to upgrade the rest of the roster, mainly at the power forward/center position.

Need another half like that for Bakersfield! The announcers were giving some praise to the WAC, in particular Bakersfield, NMSU, and GCU.

UVU only down six at the half at Wyoming. Would love to see a comeback in that one.

Bakersfield might just mess around and win the whole NIT... *knocks on wood*

No offence to Aggie fans, but with how Bako has looked since the WACt title game, good chance theyd be a 2nd round team minimum
