I actually kind of agree with the UTA guys here.

I'm not upset UTA didn't get in. They shouldn't have lost by 21 in the SB semifinals or gotten beat by ULL to end the regular season if they wanted an at-large bid.

But if I could hand pick our representative to the tournament this year I would have picked UTA (other than TXST of course). They would've had the best seeding and the greatest opportunity for wins.

I like inviting all the teams to the conference tournament. I really do.
But I also like rewarding regular season success. I'd be content with double byes for 1s and 2 seeds and byes for 3 and 4 seeds in the tournament. Yes, it makes things pretty difficult for seeds 5 through 12 but it still gives them an opportunity while rewarding the teams that played the best over the course of the entire season and gives the conference the best shot at winning NCAA tournament games, particularly the 90% of the seasons we are a one-bid league.
