Lol right...

I didn't miss his UaB years since he went to a postseason dance 4/6 years, in a much tougher conference, and with a much stronger schedule.

I can go by his recent years and see he knows how to dance. Lmao

Well who was the best?

Really cant argue that Davis didn't collapse when it mattered most though. He's a good coach though. Just couldn't get it done here.

6 years:

0-1 NCAA blowout
3-2 in NIT
1-6 in the CUSA tournament (losses to #8 Marshall, #7 Tulsa, #2 Tulsa, #6 Southern Miss, #8 ECU, #4 UCF). He never even beat a single digit seed in the CUSA tournament with his only win being over #11 USM by a single point.

Dude sucked outside of the regular season

Speaking of Davis, I heard a funny Mike Davis story the other day. Gary Parrish was telling the story about a some event where a lot of coaches had gathered. Parrish said he, Bob Huggins, Mike Davis and a few there had ended up at the hotel bar. Naturally Huggins is a hard drinker and he and Parrish had knocked down quite a few. Parrish stated that Davis doesn't drink, and when they first started ordering, Davis ordered a milk shake instead of a drink. Parrish said that a couple of hours later, they had knocked down quite a few and realized that Davis had matched them stink for drink in milkshakes.

I also say Haase and Eshan should walk home for losing cusa tourneys too

I can slightly see the argument for Anderson, but he didn't get us to an elite 8. If he had stayed another 4-5 years I think the argument could've been stronger. Who knows

9 NCAA appearances, an elite 8, a sweet 16 + building the program from the ground up I'd say Bartow has to take the title obviously.

Mike Davis had one CUSA tourney win in 6 years.

Ehsan tied that number in his first year.

Jarod Hasse is one of two coaches to coach UaB to a conference tournament title.

That's a world of difference to me.

Mike Davis' C-USA Tournament record was far from good but he had two wins (not one). He beat 12th seed Tulane in his last season, in addition to the win over Southern Miss.

Plus he spared Aaron Johnson the embarassment of playing in a loss!

To merely say C-USA tournament wins is the judge is short sighted. Davis fell short in that area, But I will take NCAA Tournament Appearances over C-USA tournament wins any day. Until Ehsan takes UAB to a couple NCAA tournament... he will be behind Davis in my book. Plus, if the argument is whether he is better than Davis at UAB... even if the answer is yes, what does that mean?

+1

Just give the guy his due. Its not like we can rehire/ retread him now. He's doing well since leaving UaB, and UaB not so much.

I'm sorry but you guys fail to mention yet again that David had to compete with Memphis, who like it or not, was a legit title contender 4 years in a row. Without Memphis in the league Davis would have been clearly the 2nd best coach in UAB's history.

Memphis wasn't the problem. Sure he never beat Memphis, but he was still on the bubble most years. The problem was his post season record. Never played Memphis in the conference tournament, so that is no excuse. Several years, had he won at least one or two conference games he was supposed to win, they would have gotten an at large bid, even with losses to Memphis.

The biggest problem with Davis though wasn't on the court. It was off the court. Academic issues, failure to sell the program to the community, trashing his bosses, and a lot of things that have been hinted at that could have gotten UAB in serious trouble with the NCAA.

I'm glad he is doing well where he is at. But this revisionist history of his time at UAB is seriously messed up.
