Gotta think it was mutual. He probably wasn't getting the minutes next year. One of those, sit down with the coach after the season and assess your future.
Yeeeeeh, I don't think Tubby would've dumped the guy. Just a gut feeling, but I don't think he would have. I think Chad just doesn't want to be on this team next year, for whatever reason. But, of course, you could be right.

More to come?
Yep. Billy Williams. 5'9 Power Forward. And Yoman Al-Caleeza. 7'9 Center with 2 knee replacements.

7'9? I like it. That'll really show Tacko Fall who's boss.

Not necessarily a dumping or a push-out. Not, "not Memphis good". Just a convo that he's probably not going to start next year - give the new guys a shot and build. Maybe welcomed to stay, but if he wants to move one, understood.
Might have also been a situation where, we thought he'd be here one year. We need the scholly. Welcome to stay as a walk-on.
Maybe he just had enough. But with the injuries, hard to see him getting a high D1 shot elsewhere. And he honestly couldn't expect to play a lot of minutes next year, even if he steps down to low-major.

This is the state of our program AND this message board. This kid would not have played a single minute for Cal.

“It was his decision. It wasn’t that (Memphis) didn’t want him back,” Rykhoek’s mom, Teri Crisco, said in a telephone interview. “It just didn’t work out the way we thought it would. ... Our experience now twice is it’s not always how it ends up being when you get in the middle of it. You kind of hear one thing and it just doesn’t always work out quite that way.”

The most disturbing aspect of his transfer to me is his willingness to leave despite readily available playing time.

No offense, but the times when my Mom did my talking for me, it was never accurate to what I said or felt.
You make a good point, but truth is this clears the decks for a healthier version of Chad, either a rook or a grad transfer.
Chad is a good case of "what might have been."
