I doubt we ever play Liberty outside of a bowl fluke... There's no reason to.

Agreed, although I could see us buying a home game from them if the stars aligned.

I could see us doing a 2-for-1 with UMass (in theory) because UMass is a desirable location that we try to recruit students from and because they have a good name brand in basketball.

But Liberty has none of those advantages. Even most of the Sun Belt schools are more desirable for us to play an away game at. And since the mid-70s we've only played at one Sun Belt school (at Arkansas State in 1998 - and oddly enough it was without a return game).

Cincinnati was broke in the late 80's early 90's right? Could explain it. It's odd though, a 1 and done at Arky St...

With that said I do hope they do well.

For Notre Dame, it is all about the FCS, at least for football.

I sincerely hope Army schedules Liberty for football. It would be better than NMSU, Idaho and other various G4 bottom-feeders and directional schools.

VT already has scheduled them. We played them this past year and play them again in 2020. Home games only though.

Seriously.....if you are a regional school you'll be cutting your own throat out of spite if you don't schedule them. Liberty fans travel. That equals tickets sold. That equals money in the bank.

I hope that the decisionmakers aren't stupid enough to listen to the SJWs who don't support athletics to begin with.

This.

It is amazing how the self-proclaimed most tolerant people are hating and wishing failure on Liberty.

Being independent and charting your own chart is superior to being part of the worst G4 directional conference.

Why would a school like USA schedule Liberty?

So we can have 2k LU fans at the game? So friggin' what. USA doesn't recruit South Central Virginia and likely never will. Very few people watch their TV network.

LU wants to recruit South Alabama...we don't recruit there. And we probably never will. Playing LU doesn't help USA....it just helps LU.

----

LU will find a schedule of teams willing to go there. Teams that are having trouble scheduling. UMass found games, so will LU.

"Never" is a long time, but it's probably the most accurate. "Close to never" would be ideal. Liberty is a small fish in a different region of the country. The only two ways I can see it happening are: 1) we need to fill a hole - fast, and 2) one of our former coaches ends up coaching there, and we're doing him a solid.

If we have an empty spot on the schedule for a home game, maybe. And it would have to be early in the year. I think they might struggle to get home games.

Totally agree with you. I think many fans will be shocked at schools that played at Lynchburg in other D1 sports.

They certainly don't offer the same thing in football as they do with baseball.
