Couple of pivotal games in the Battle for Third tonight at 5 central:
UConn at UCF on CBS Sports Network
Houston at Tulsa on ESPNU
Looks like I am watching college basketball for four solid hours tonight. Immediately after those two games, I will watch Gonzaga for the first time all year as they visit 22-2 Saint Mary's on ESPN.

And quite a battle it is. Here are the records and key games remaining for each of the contenders:
Memphis 7-4
Two tough games @ SMU and @ Cincy
Pivotal games with Tulsa, Houston and @ UConn
Houston 7-4
Two tough games @ Cincy and vs. SMU

Tulsa 6-4

UCF 6-5
Two tough games @ Cincy and vs Cincy
Pivotal games vs UConn and Tulsa
UConn 5-5

This is partly in humor, but looking at those games that the 3rd place contenders have with Cincy/SMU; have Cincy and SMU played anyone in the top 5? :))
They play nearly all of us. Partly for humor, but they have some challenges themselves.
By the way, who are we going to replace UConn with now that they are downgrading their basketball program? :))

That St. Mary's gym is really old school. Got to be a tough place for visiting teams--well maybe not for Gonzaga.

Tulsa and UCF have very difficult paths now.
UConn is starting to win games, and has most of their remaining tough games at home. They could spoil.
Memphis and Houston in the driver's seat for third.
I think UCF may be out of it.
not yet..everyone else still has a ton of hard games left, ucf has it relatively easy, you could argue they are behind because they had their hard games earlier than the others

Barring a huge upset of Cincy, the best UCF can finish will be 10-8.

UConn 8-5

UConn coming on strong.
Realistically, among the challengers, Houston is the only team with a prayer of an at-large bid. This is a 2-bid league unless Houston closes strong, finishes 3rd, and makes at least the semifinals of the conference tourney.

Going to be tough for Houston to fullfill that tall order. Your schedule is backloaded like ours
The back of the schedule is the only reason UH has a chance. If they don't produce at least one win over SMU or Cincinnati in the next month, it's a mute point. Yes, it's a mute point.
Remember where UCF and Memphis finish relative to each other could have huge implications on who is the 1 seed in the AAC tournament. If UC and SMU both run the table UC is the 1 seed if UCF finishes higher, SMU is the 1 seed if Memphis finishes higher.
